obesity52, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?
@obesity52@lemmy.world avatar

Fuck no

Nemo, in How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?

Speakers, ideally in surround.

distractedcactus, in What is a beautiful concept or idea that continues to blow your mind?
@distractedcactus@beehaw.org avatar

Several things are regularly in my “ponder and wonder” list, the most recent being:

  • Chaos theory
  • Higher dimensions (>4)
  • The actual scale of space versus our normal human scale
  • The idea of social/societal evolution (how can we be better together as a species)

I can get lost for a while in any of these topics.

girl, in What genres of music do Lemmites enjoy?

I oscillate between 3 moods. For the longest time I exclusively listened to metal and rock, System of a Down being my all time favorite. Also Primus, Korn, Rammstein, Suicidal Tendencies, ICP, and La Dispute (not exactly metal/rock but fits in with all my angry music that keeps me happy lol).

My other mood, when I’m struggling with my mental health, is Pink Floyd. All the Pink Floyd, all day long, listen to the same album on repeat for 3 weeks straight Pink Floyd. My current favorite album is The Final Cut. It haunts me in an amazing way.

Recently I’ve been on an alt/electro pop kick. Ashnikko is my favorite and I can’t wait to see her on tour later this year. Also Kim Petras, Medusa, Poppy (kinda scratches that metal itch too), Royal & the Serpent, YONAKA, SUUNS, and IC3PEAK (ALSO kinda scratches the metal itch).

XPost3000, in What genres of music do Lemmites enjoy?

Kobaryo Speedcore

hitagi, in How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?

Headphones on my desktop and earphones on my phone.

I used to have speakers on my desktop but they broke and I never really used them much anyway.

I'm all over the place. Some of my favorites include Flogging Molly, The White Stripes, and MC Frontalot. Lately I've been getting into the stoner metal band Gnome.

BackStabbath, in How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?

Bluetooth earbuds on my phone. And wired earphones if I’m on my laptop.

onichama, in What password manager do you recommend?

Yet another vote for Bitwarden. I love that you can access your stuff through a browser without installing anything, I need that sometimes on my work pc where I cannot install anything.

PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S, in What genres of music do Lemmites enjoy?

Mostly extreme metal, moreso since going back to college, but I also like post-rock, shoegaze, and classical amongst other things. Try this out for size.

ophelia, in F*ck, Marry, Kill: Bread, Pasta, Rice.
@ophelia@lemmy.ca avatar

Fuck pasta, that shits delicious.

Marry rice cause I know it goes well with things that are good for me, like lean meats and veggies.

Kill bread, it’s good but I could easily live without it.

jjjalljs, in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

I buy a new phone when my current one breaks. So like every five years.

Lots of people are bad with money or don’t prioritize the same things I do. I try not to worry about this. I worry about other unimportant shit like why do people roll for stats in DND 5e.

Hexarei,
@Hexarei@programming.dev avatar

why do people roll for stats in DND 5e.

Because having a wizard with 6 CON, a chronic disease, and a built in death wish is funny as hell

Selmafudd,

I’m the same, use the phone until it refuses to function any longer then jump on a Chinese site and get the cheapest pos with a decent camera and then once it arrives watch a yt video on how to change the language to English

TheGod,

In the early 10s Smartphones evolved quickly and it was worth it to upgrade every 2nd year or even every year.

This changed when the tech stagnated. But smartphone was much cheaper in the early days so financially it probably isnt much different if you are buying flagships later now.

Classy, in What's the hottest and coldest temperature you've ever been in?

Hottest was 122°F (50°C), a record heat day in Mesa, AZ.

Coldest was in Indiana during the polar vortex of 2019, -45°F (-42°C).

The world is a crazy fucking place.

tryagain, in How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?

“Sports” Bluetooth buds so I can quickly take one or both out and not have to faff around with a case.

boatswain, in Hey Lemmy, what are some good public domain books?

The Book of Wonder by Lord Dunsany is fantastic; it’s a bunch of early fantasy stories by an Irish lord who was a huge influence on the fantasy genre.
