Growing up, my bedroom faced a main road (even though it was a decent way aways), always want the bedroom window open. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
A few years ago I downloaded a browser extension to stop showing me recommended videos, both on the homepage and on the side of videos. I can only watch what I’m subscribed to and what I search for - you’d think its a big sacrifice because you can’t discover as many videos, but in reality I’ve gained so much more of my time back and control over what I actually want to watch.
I use Linux and flatpaks so XC is the obvious choice for me - much nicer to use across platforms that aren’t a windows and only one available as a flatpak. Nicer interface. Supports TOTP codes (all I use it for, Bitwarden for passwords). More active development.
I’ll just say as a guy that does construction and remodeling, there is no better place to witness the butterfly effect than in a house with lazy framers. Any one of the contractors being lazy can often times be cause effects down the road .
I’m also in the construction industry, and you’re so right. Good framing helps makes every step afterward go much more smoothly. Fixing bad framing with drywall mud and trim is hell.
iPad with the apple pencil. I use PDF Expert which is free and has no ads to write and highlight PDF files. Has a wireless transfer feature on local networks too so you can move files back and forth between the iPad and non Apple devices.
If I’m posting a question, I simply won’t have anything better to say to someone who answered with more expertise than me 🤷♂️. If I say thanks to everyone just for the sake of it, I feel like I’m clogging up the comment section.
Sometimes it’s better to reply in comments to address specific questions, other times better to post an ETA. Sometimes, I just wanted to provoke discussion, or I’m about to do something that’ll leave me away for a couple of hours.
I like odysee as well since its the only alternative that has lots of content. However the video performance sucks(I don’t blame them). I like that I can contribute to the network.
I wish odysee content was available on peertube. Because peertube performance is good and I’d have no problem Donating to my instance host.
During my time on reddit, I’ve learnt to appreciate downvotes. Silent feedback is much better than passive-aggressive replies that serve no purpose other than letting the person vent out.
Most of the time the downvotes I would get on Reddit are on topics where I disagreed with a couple of the early people and they downvoted. This would cause a cascade of people piling on. Other times I could make essentially the same comment and get lots of upvotes.
Not a big deal either way, it is boring to always be aligned with everyone else as long as you are open to constructive discussions about it.
I got majorly downvoted once for sharing my opinion on not wanting to travel to a foreign country alone as a woman. A lot of flippant comments too. Like okay, this is not the sub for me. I still can’t believe I was attacked like I was.
That could be it. I don’t know YouTube’s algorithm, but typically they work by finding what other users watch the videos you watch and recommending you other videos those people also watched. I wouldn’t be surprised if the guys watching blacksmithing videos also tend to watch Joe Rogan and the like.
