I’m from central Italy, in my city temperatures regularly reach 40 degrees in August. With the recent heatwave we reached it in mid July, I cope by being indoors and locking myself in with AC on and drinking ice cold water, and when I can (and I fortunately can afford so) going on vacation in colder, still close, places, something like Abruzzo or Molise if you know central Italy.
Lol I get your point. Again, the context of the quote probably isn’t relevant but it was the first thing I thought of. Time dilation makes sense to me after much research. There was certainly an aha! moment with that one.
Human behavior isn’t nearly as complicated as time dilation. And not making sense TO YOU doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense to someone with over 30 years in the relevant field.
The problem with Judge Judy’s quote though is that time dilation doesn’t make sense to most people, that doesn’t mean most people should live lives assuming it’s not true. Conversely if it just means that it has to make sense to someone but not you then it’s meaningless because there’s someone crazy enough to believe everything.
Human behavior isn’t nearly as complicated as time dilation
Human behaviour is far more complicated than time dilation. Time dilation is one weird phenomena that can be described and predicted with a handful of equations, human behaviour is inherently complex to the point of being chaotically unpredictable
My flight had to turn around because of frost issues. 3h later we left Jersey again for London and obviously I missed my flight. The airport was going to shut down pretty soon and the company only made arrangements at the last minute for a hotel and a taxi. I took the first flight back to my country at like 6am, it was a long day afterwards.
Plenty! Apart from the obvious horror stuff like Berserk, worlds where humans face constant threats of extinction by herculean threats like Evangelion or AoT (on Paradis, at least), or “society is gone” endtime settings like Dr. Stone, one that comes to my mind especially is Psycho Pass. I’d rather not spend life in an Orwellian dystopia, thanks.
On a side note: I think the world of Dragon Ball wouldn’t be half bad actually. Highly advanced technology, a diverse society (a dog for a king! Need I say more?) and the guarantee that an afterlife exists. Not to mention that on the off chance a villain kills a bunch of people again, they’ll be wished back to life by the heroes once they’ve inevitably won.
First- understand that everyone goes through this, everybody has an answer for you, but the answer that worked for them may not work for you. There’s no right or wrong answer. A lot of people say ‘the way to get over someone is to get under someone’ personally I’ve never subscribed to that sort of thinking. It leads to unhealthy rebound relationships IMHO.
The only thing that will really fix this is time. So there is no magic bullet. There are things you can do to help though or pass the time faster. The biggest one is find ways to not ruminate. Focus your attention on other things, ideally useful things. Take some time to improve yourself in fun ways. Hit the gym is an obvious one, but I generally recommend take up a hobby or learn an instrument or take a class. Basically learn some fun new skill and focus your attention on that. It serves as a distraction from your grief, but also a source of engagement and a little happiness.
It WILL get better.
Going through a break up sucks. Like really sucks. There’s no getting around it that I’ve found. It does get better after some time (maybe a lot of time), but I wouldn’t worry about that right now. Exercise seemed to help me with some of the overthinking and rumination. Over time it will get less raw and you’ll likely develop some perspective that will help, But for now take time to grieve and feel sad.
Take your time, and try to focus on yourself. It’s normal to feel uneven when someone/something that’s meaningful for you suddently (or forcefully) goes away.
And not because you broke up with that person it means you cannot reamain friends.
But right now you got to get on your feet. (unless you have a cat over your chest, in that case do not move).
