lilmagpie, (edited ) in Have you ever had a hyper realistic dream that you still remember after years?
@lilmagpie@lemmy.world avatar

I remember a dream I had while I was sleeping on a plane. I was with two other women and one of them was holding a little dog (similar to a pomeranian). They were talking normally, but I noticed the dog glaring at me with his abnormally huge, ice cold eyes. I can’t accurately describe the evilness and intense hate I saw in that stare, but it was out of this world. The dog jumped at me and bit my wrist and I started screaming. Then the sound of the plane engines gradually overlapped my screams, until I jolted awake with a nosebleed.

I had a nose surgery not long ago at that time, so it was not uncommon for me to occasionally get nosebleeds. However I still remember those evil eyes very vividly to this day.

I’d just use www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_value_available.html for an estimate of value / price, and then build a spreadsheet with the same results for good candidate components but the prices in your market.

For memory, hard drive and power supply just check you meet your requirements and check reviews (and buy an established brand).

I think the hardest decision right now is deciding between DDR4 and DDR5, as that’ll affect your motherboard options too.

But there is no universally best option as the prices and availability vary massively by market (and even moreso if you include second-hand too!). Even asking others isn’t that helpful if they aren’t in the same market as you.

Remember to always buy electrical tape, extra thermal paste and cleaning alcohol too. The anti-static band is worth it if you are somewhere dry / with a lot of static shocks, but most components have better protection these days. And always read the motherboard and case manuals first, so you don’t make it way harder for yourself to connect the front USB ports, etc. later on.

Delphia, in How do you cheer yourself up after a rough day? Or a rough year?

Well when positive thinking and taking stock of my achievements and thinking about how far ive come doesnt work.

I order way too much pizza, buy just enough alcohol to get somewhat drunk but not so much ill get wasted and maudlin and I watch the shitty 90s comedies I loved as a teenager.

Honestly when I feel my worst I enjoy comforting media, but what's a very bizzare and unethical bad habit of mine is reading stuff people with worse lives than me post online (I never interact with them- prime directive!). I know it's wrong and voyeuristic but it always makes me grateful for how comparatively together I am.

Dinodicchellathicc,

Now you’re interacting with me! Does it harsh your mellow?

LOL! No it helped cheer me up honestly.

HolyHell, in do you guys shop on places like aliexpress/Temu and if you do what items have pleasantly surprised you?

I bought an intel i7-5775c for like £70 about 2 and a half years ago from Aliexpress. Really strong cpu for the price, overclocks well and has meant that I haven’t had to upgrade my motherboard and ram to ddr4 yet.

Could have swore I saw a few posts from “BuildAPC” on Lemmy the other day, and it looked like it was the Reddit sub moved over to whatever instance it was on.

But PCMasterRace and PCGaming can also assist with this.

chivalry7675, in Have you ever had a hyper realistic dream that you still remember after years?

I used to have a repetitive dream when I was much younger that felt incredibly real. The crux of the dream was always the same, I would fall through a hole in the pavement and I would usually wake up when I hit the bottom. Sometimes it would feel like I was falling for ages. I would always wake with a jolt too.

expresshermes,

Dreams about falling are very common. I have read that it usually happens when our body falls asleep after then our mind can comprehend so we get a jerk reaction that wakes us up.

I have also read that sometimes these dreams are due to anxiety.

Yes, a nightmare I had as a child, many years ago (around 30ish). I was in a desert/beach....the air was dusty and orange-tinted. There was a gazebo made of wood, almost rotting or rotten, and a giant golem who trapped me in a wooden box. The whole thing was terrifying, and dry and hot.

Bipta,

I had this dream.

Bipta,

No I'm just kidding.

Rybodyno, in do you guys shop on places like aliexpress/Temu and if you do what items have pleasantly surprised you?

I buy Lego from Ali. It’s so much cheaper and the quality is same.

yuunikki,

Like full sets?

I bought an electric field heater for my dynavap, so that’s good.

ratofkryll, in What's the first dream you remember having?

Fleeing naked along endless paths through mountains of jagged debris. A world torn apart. Feels like moving through molasses. Enough light to register, but not enough to see more than looming shadows. The air is hot and oppressive. It’s hard to breathe. Sounds are muffled, no echoes. Safety lies at the centre of the maze but the path shifts and twists away like a living thing.

It was a recurring nightmare throughout my childhood. I still get anxious in really dim lighting, like when lights on a dimmer switch are down really low or candlelight in a dark room. I call it nightmare lighting.

limeaide, in In which game did you spend the most hours?

Overall i’ve spent countless hours in minecraft and csgo for a close second

Recently tho I’ve been playing a lot of bloons and risk of rain 2. They’re both really addictive

Sometimes if there's a good deal for something I know I want. For instance, I was wanting an RG35XX (portable retro console). I had never heard about Temu, went there and got the $100 off bundle (basically a set of thresholds to hit for up to $100 off). I found the RG35XX for $53 ($17 less than Amazon), and that coupon knocked it down to $28. For me that was a no brainer.

yuunikki,

On Temu I mostly just stick to little stupid things like $1 bundles of stickers or something
