grannyweatherwax, in How often do you brush your teeth?

Twice: after waking up,before bed. Floss, tongue cleaner , mouth wash is a part of the ritual. On a related note : can recommend electronic tooth brush.

The amount of individuals here who brush post breakfast or not at all in the morning is alarming ! Of course, mental health can affect the schedule but that’s a different conversation and is understandable.

The rest, how is your dentist not harassing about your oral hygiene?

can recommend electronic tooth brush

Important caveat: just because electric toothbrushes are good does not mean “more power = better”. For natural teeth, you should always brush gently. Don’t go ham just because you’ve got a powertool in your hand!

If your brush has multiple intensity modes, always use the lowest. Same thing goes for your grip! The whole point of an electric is that it can get you clean with almost zero pressure. Seriously: apply no more pressure than necessary to get full bristle contact. It will extend the natural life of your teeth and gums by years.

taladar, in How often do you brush your teeth?

After breakfast and before i go to bed.

AceSLS,

You should brush before breakfast to remove the bacteria from your mouth that breaks your teeth in combination with sugar

Boost stopped working

This works great

No reason to go anywhere

Deepus,

Same here. What app are you using now? Im waiting for boost for lemmy to come out and using Jerboa for now.

dorron,

Eagerly awaiting boost for lemmy

I were supposed to do tree times a day, but i end up 2 every day. I also bathe every day

EliasChao,

Are you or your parents from a Latin American country? Trying to find a pattern here.

Yep, i’m brazilian

Good oral hygiene practices don’t really differ between cultures. Cleaning your teeth properly is cleaning your teeth properly.

EliasChao,

It does a bit here though, in my country dentists recommend 3 times a day, not 2.

david, in Liftoff. Lemmy app. Do you like the way it works now?

It’s my go-to for random lemmy browsing. If I want to read interesting and/or thoughtful stuff I log in to my home instance where I’m subscribed to all my favourite content, but if I feel like mindlessly scrolling some memes and go where the internet mainstream goes, I use liftoff. Good interface, good speed.

FarLine99,

👍🙂

leprasmurf, in If I gave you $1 million in cash to spend in 1 hour, after which the money will disappear, what would you buy?

A million dollars in bitcoin, I’d walk away with a cool $100 after selling it all.

In truth, being in a central Florida town at 7 in the morning, I’d go on a shopping spree at some of the bigger box stores and stock up on electronics and building supplies, before I blew the rest on tools.

Yep, reddit killed reddit.

cantstopthesignal,

TBF though, they killed reddit so that’s good.

Toma, in Leftist circlejerks everywhere

It seems like FOSS apps just appeal more to the far left than any other political group. And that’s coherent with all their other beliefs so it’s only logical. The same thing happens on Mastodon, though it’s less extreme. Could find some accounts of regional branches of the major left-wing party in my country, none center or right-wing.

arthur,

Corporate interest IMO favors and spreads the far-right content. The only “big” far-right player I know on this space is Trump’s truth-social (that used Mastodon code to have a fast Twitter clone, and they defederated themselves).

That will be interesting to watch: how much the far-right will appeal and spread in this more-leveled plainfield, without Big Tech help.

nekat_emanresu,

The simple reality is, left wing views get minimised, distorted or outright censored in standard media like reddit. It’s mostly just false flag stuff on reddit like calling liberals leftists or socialists. The only place to talk freely would be some tiny place in the middle of nowhere like a lemmy instance. Which makes supporting FOSS even more important.

Righties like to cry censorship, but its almost purely when they foam at the mouth and “accidentally” get too abusive, forcing the platform to save face and ban them. Standard corporate media will megaphone right wing views and give them free reign to be open nazis unless they go a step too far as I mentioned before.

nuke, in Leftist circlejerks everywhere

You can change what instance you use to one that defederates with the places you don’t want to participate with. Also, some apps allow you to hide specific instances through a UI option.

hillosipuli,

I’m not a fan of idea of completely getting cut out from parts of the fediverse because of ideological differences. Imo that just promotes further polarization. Though I might look into blocking couple instances if and when I get annoyed enough lol

pixelPastry, in Are you replacing Reddit with Lenny?

I use lemmy occasionally. I do feel the impact of a significantly smaller community though. A lot of the subreddits I would regularly check are not even here. So unfortunately for now, I’m forced to use the official app. Tried the RSS route too, but it seems it would be too expensive for me.

I’m sure the lemmy community will continue to grow, so I’ll stick around.

arghya_333,

I didn’t get why RSS would be expensive. Are you talking about time expensive?

pixelPastry,

All the apps I checked asked me subscribe. Couldn’t view anything without it. Maybe I haven’t found a free to use app on iOS.

TeaHands, in What are some interesting accounts to follow on Mastodon?
@TeaHands@lemmy.world avatar

Kind of completely depends on what topics you find “interesting”. I never quite got the point of following people, myself, it’s why I wasn’t on Twitter. But thankfully on Mastodon you can follow topics via hashtags instead and just dip into the interesting convos without having to deal with whatever other nonsense people talk about on a daily basis cluttering up your feed.

Interestingly that’s also how Twitter used to work, but I understand it’s quite different nowadays so people struggle a bit with changing back to topic-focused.

Royalish,

Would you mind sharing how to follow hashtags? Couldn’t figure it out n the mobile app.

emptyother,
@emptyother@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah no, the default app doesn’t have this feature for some weird unknown reason.

freamon, in Using Lemmy. How do I add say a porn sub to my list? I’m so confused

Follow the link from the LinkFixerBot so it’ll load that community whilst keeping you logged in on your instance, and you’ll see a big “Subscribe” button.

bstix, in What is something you think leftists are not ready to hear but need to hear it?

They need to know that the system can only be changed from within. Being apathetic or edgy does not change anything. Voting does.

If there’s is no one to vote for? Well, the parties too can only be changed from within. Join a party and vote in that party for it to change it’s direction.

irmoz,

This is naive and optimistic. No political change has actually come from voting. The civil rights act was not voted, but fought and died for. Same with worker’s rights.

Illegal_Prime,

There was plenty of anti-slavery political involvement leading up to the civil war, the New Deal was started by the democratically elected FDR, we’ve recently seen the disparities in LGBT rights depending on who holds majorities in government. All these come from voting and deliberate policymaking whether it be through ingenuity or bigotry. Fight tooth and nail for your right to vote, but ALWAYS use it, and make sure to educate yourself about who is on your ballot.
