But yeah, fuck the rest of that list, I’m with you :)

I feel like the lack of karma system will 100% help in this aspect. No reason to comment/post dumb things since you don’t really get anything with your post/comment is at the top.

My 512GB Steam Deck, easily. I've used it almost every day for going on a year now, and the novelty of playing things like Witcher 3, or Mass Effect, or a fully modded Skyrim anywhere I want still hasn't worn off.

Instant pot/air fryer combo - I like that I can make one-pot meals in it as I really don't like cooking, and anything I make in there cooks fast. Pasta, rice, meats, there's so many recipes.

Bissell Green Machine - it can wash furniture/carpet. Great for spills, if you have pets. Wash the upholstery in your vehicle. Small and compact. I use it a lot.

Large Honeywell air purifier - my husband smokes a fair amount of pot. I really don't enjoy my space smelling like it all the time. This thing sucks up the smoke and I don't have to deal with it. I buy the replacement air filters on Amazon.

Steam Deck - I love this thing. I love gaming but I'm tired of sitting at my desktop. It's like a small handheld computer too, so you can do other things on it besides run Steam. Right now I'm using it to stream CraveTV to my TV since my Raspberry Pi streaming box isn't working.

_haha_oh_wow_, in A drunken wizard offers you $20 million if you let him send you to the world of the last video game you played, and you survive for one year. Do you accept?
@_haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works avatar

I played Minecraft in peaceful mode, so, yeah, that sounds like a nice year long vacation actually.

Hard pass on the mortal kombat, but I might take the third offer if I could be functionally immortal and the world was expansive enough.

Need more info before I accept or not. Does time IRL freeze? Or do I miss a year of real life time?

If I miss a year then nah because that’s logistical nightmares and a LOT of explaining. Plus all my stuff would probably be lost if I stop paying rent because I’m non existent for a year, including legal documents etc.

If IRL time stops though, yeah I’d take it. Last played Ensemble Stars which is a game about idols. So the world they live in is more or less just normal modern day Earth.

Anyway I need to know the situation with IRL while I’m gone, OP.

I would not take the further deals because I’m disabled for the first one, and because I have people and things I like IRL for the second.

wabafee, (edited ) in Am I the only one getting agitated by the word AI?
@wabafee@lemmy.world avatar

To be fair it’s still AI, If I remember correctly what I learned from uni LLM are in the category what we call expert systems. We could call them that way, then again LLM did not exist back then, and most of the public does not know all this techno mumbo-jumbo words. So here we are AI it is.

Chipped off about a mm² of one of my front upper teeth while trying to eat my food fast and opening and closing my mouth fast. I did it faster than I pulled the fork out of my mouth and my teeth hit the fork…

I also was jumping on the couch and I fell on a table hitting my face between my eyebrows and now I have a scar there…

MTK, in What stupid injury left a long lasting impact on you?

Had an earing, one day it got caught on a net and ripped out with the stopper.

Never again.

morphballganon, in What stupid injury left a long lasting impact on you?

It doesn’t really bother me anymore physically, but I have a scar that has acted as a reminder not to do stupid shit. When I was a teenager, we had a broken mirror outside. I thought, it’s already broken, who cares if I break it more? So I smashed it with a hammer, with no gloves or anything. Sliced open my finger. It’s the index finger on my dominant hand, on the back side of it, so it’s very easy for me to see. Seeing that scar may have saved me from doing other dumb shit.

helmet91, in How do you deal with the thought of having to work for 40+ years and then when/if you retire, you're too old to do much?

I can’t imagine stopping to work. If I retire, I’ll have no money. I cannot count on pension either.

But I have an IT job, it’s just sitting in front of the computer all day; it’s not like a physical job I wouldn’t be able to do at old age.

RiderExMachina, in How do you deal with the thought of having to work for 40+ years and then when/if you retire, you're too old to do much?

Times are tough, but here’s what’s worked for me so far:

  1. Spend less than you make
  2. Keep a budget
  3. Keep debts to a minimum
  4. If you live with your parents, try to save as much as you can
  5. Have an end goal

Depending on your circumstances, you might only have to work for 20 years, and if you do what you love, it won’t feel like work.

Water. And I like water, so no issue there. I don’t regularly drink alcohol on a weekday, and any soda or other garbage is banned entirely from my house

Yeah I’m doing whatever I want as long as there’s still some life left in this body. Opted for a career that gets me to live all over the world, decided very early on that I’ll never have kids, and live my life to the fullest.

Accidentally I’m also really good at what I do and got people pay me big time to live where I want to be. About to move to my 10th country on the third continent.
