aard, in Debian being insanely stable
@aard@kyu.de avatar

There’s the old saying that Debian is available in three flavours: Stale, rusting and broken.

BlueBockser,

broken saying

FTFY

possiblylinux127,

All of which are quite stable.

Phrodo_00,

Stable in the distro context refers to how often packages change. Sid (which is the one that’s broken in that) is not that. The other 2 are stable in that sense, but older software can sometimes be shaky on newer hardware.

Gentoo is misrepresented. It is custom-built manufacturing line that massproduces coffee, blackjack and hookers.

Creatortray, (edited ) in Distros bad

I think Arch. Linux would make sense more as one of those fancy setups you’re always seeing on YouTube. The ones with the awesome ports, and the calming effect. I just started using zorin, and it’s more like one of those top of the line machines that can start the coffee automatically in the morning lol.

I mostly drink instant coffee. I’m also a dirty Windows user who mainly uses WSL (with the Ubuntu distro on that) for my Linux needs.

Speaking of a terminal displaying symbols, I still really miss slrn. I’d love a Lemmy client with that interface.

Mint is great. I love it when shit just works.

I use wsl just to log in and run update/upgrade whenever I get the itch.

Anyone remember the rackspace raids in mid-00s? I called and explained to them our ircd operator was in iraq and got services set back up.

I only use Vim, but I appreciate nano as a choice and don’t even really mind visudo opening nano

somenonewho,

I appreciate nano as a choice. Sure. But if visudo opens in nano and suddenly I have a bunch of “yoi:wq” in my sudoers I’ll be upset.

laurelraven,

When visudo opens nano, I get unreasonably angry about it. I typed “visudo”, not “nanosudo”

Moshpirit,
@Moshpirit@lemmy.world avatar

I prefer micro over nano. It’s like a middle term

captain_aggravated,
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

Vim user here: Nano is a good text editor, takes a lot less training to pick up and use, and it’s surprisingly capable. If I’m teaching someone how to use the Linux terminal, I’m going to teach them Nano, because they already have enough to learn. Vim is a separate class all its own.

redcalcium, in If linux distributions were tools.

Hmm, the Arch one seems to be incorrect. People who wear a buttplug won’t randomly announce that they’re wearing buttplug.

badbytes,

Also, too smooth for Archusers. They prefer more pain.

_cnt0,

They likely would, if it was an Arch butt plug.

Zaphod,

A Bluetooth controlled butt plug that runs Arch? 😩

TheFerrango,

Good luck getting the BT driver for the vibrator to work, the AUR package has been broken for months

It’s okay to say “ass” on the internet, FYI.

Acutally… They do on the internet. And may even earn money by doing so.
