Anticorp, in This guy floated down into my neighborhood the other day

That’s pretty neat.

IrrerPolterer, in Anti-Zionist Jewish community flying Palestinian flags in Jerusalem

Wait, I am confused…

aeronmelon, in The average temperature in my area is 10°C above the historical average today

I live north of Tokyo and the temperature here and in many other areas of Japan this summer was the highest ever recorded since recording began in the 1890s.

Pechente, in The average temperature in my area is 10°C above the historical average today

Some context: This is in Catalonia (eastern Spain)

Ooh, how’s the independence movement going?

casmael,

What app is this?

Catoblepas,

Looks like the default iOS weather app.

Pechente,

That’s right. It’s the default weather app on iOS. Usually there’s a tile that shows you the difference of the current temperature to the average and if you tap it, there’s this graph and a nice explanation on how the data is gathered.

casmael,

Excellent thanks found it!

casmael,

Yeah it does doesn’t it. Can’t seem to find the average weather stats tho tbh.

lars,

Long press on the square Averages panel toward the bottom of a location

casmael,

Amazing thanks x

Skunk,

Yeah as usual from May to October Spain is all red

Except the Canarias maybe, they should still be in their constant oceanic weather, for now 😩

Nice normal thing

cricket97,

it is normal for the temperature to be above the historical average, yes.

Player2,

It’s called a heat wave and it’s not normal for them to be ‘normal’

Hyperreality,

Silver lining: bed bugs start to die at 45C, so climate change will likely kill off bed bugs in Spain. Hotels can simply turn off the AC and let a room bake in the sun.

TwoGems,
@TwoGems@lemmy.world avatar

They’d just adapt eventually, which is the problem.

lars,

Gold lining: other hotel guests start to die at only 37° C

Tuss,

They could just not book the hotel for two days and bugs would be heatpurged.

pipows, in The average temperature in my area is 10°C above the historical average today

Laughs in Brazilian

I feel you.

bruh_momento,

I’ve seen the same information two days ago, on a wheather app. Maybe it’s happening worldwide?

I live in Santa Catarina btw

QuarterSwede, in The average temperature in my area is 10°C above the historical average today
@QuarterSwede@lemmy.world avatar

What app is that?

alcyoneous,

The stock iOS weather app

QuarterSwede,
@QuarterSwede@lemmy.world avatar

Wait, when did they add that!? Super cool!

For anyone else who can’t find it, it’s on the main screen, scroll down to the averages looking widget, Tap.

Psythik,

Equivalent Android app? I want this graph!

ridethespiral, in Stair Climbing Reduces Heart Disease Risk by 20%, Potentially Surpassing the Benefits of Walking

I mean I could walk for hours but 10 minutes on stairs or a stair machine and it definitely feels like a workout.

Erowid has been doing the exact same thing for three decades.

https://www.erowid.org/

Fuck_u_spez_,

Yeah but the site itself is just as old and not remotely mobile friendly. PW is modern and better organized, which helps a bunch when I’m tripping so hard that I can barely use my phone.

Littleborat,

They are both very good but I used ero more for trip reports then anything else. I like to filter for new there.

LanternEverywhere, in I made a website that tells you, based on the year you graduated high school, what your school (probably) got wrong!

Site isn't working on my device.

MiraLazine,

What device are you on? I’ll try to work up a fix

LanternEverywhere,

Android. I tried a couple of browsers. When i look very closely now i see a tiny little rectangle that i can click on and it brings up the decade options

alquicksilver, in I made a website that tells you, based on the year you graduated high school, what your school (probably) got wrong!

ForestOrca,

Agreed! Tho' there is so much more in each decade listing that could be shared. Science and knowledge continue to move forward.

such_lettuce7970, in I made a website that tells you, based on the year you graduated high school, what your school (probably) got wrong!
@such_lettuce7970@kbin.social avatar

I graduated in the 2000's and the only falsehood from this list I remember being taught was the one about taste buds.

1800doctorb,
@1800doctorb@lemmy.world avatar

Yea I feel like a lot of these came from friends or other sources, and not necessarily from school.

Spacecraft,

I have definitely been told by nurses to tilt my head back if I had a nose bleed.

such_lettuce7970,
@such_lettuce7970@kbin.social avatar

Honestly I don't recall my schools ever having a "school nurse". I assume most of the teachers were trained in first aid. I went to school in Ontario. Are school nurses an American thing?
