first_must_burn, in found a confusing bolt cleaning my parents' garage

That is one of those right angle bolts for getting into tight places. Hang onto it because they cost about $15 each new. It is specially made to transfer the torque from the head around the 90 degree bend. Just line it up with the nut, slap a driver on there and go to town. I promise, it will be amazing and nothing bad will happen.

atempuser23, in A muddy reveal for mysterious West point time capsule from 1820s

This is an absolutely epic article from the BBC.

weeoooweeooo,

My favorite part:

“I am sure some in our audience have questions for our various experts up on stage?” Ms Voigtschild said after the mud was found. There were none.

rynzcycle,

"Uh, hi, yeah. Do you guys get paid for this?"

TubeTalkerX,

What kind of mud was it?

SpaceNoodle,

Old

Tankaus,

Fascinating.

Looked a bit stylized for my liking so I did a quick Google. Pretty close to reality.

ArbitraryValue,

Why does imgur insist that that’s nsfw? I thought I was going to be hilarious trolled and then I was let down.

(Link is completely safe for work. You can open it in front of your boss.)

agent_flounder,

And yet still kind of terrifying.

MossyFeathers,

That’s awesome. I want a garden full of these

Tangent5280, in Setenil de las Bodegas, Cádiz, Spain

This is fucking with my brain - are the rocks I’m seeing on a slope above the roofs, or are the rocks actually the ceiling of the road?

smeghead,

The latter. The buildings on the right are constructed under a shelf of rock - on the left, they’ve built up to meet that shelf.

It’s probably both if we’re being honest. A lot of services definitely don’t want bots. But they also want to take as much of your personal info as possible.

    TWeaK,

I’m of the belief that Google themselves runs (or more likely subcontracts) many of the bots that target websites not running captcha.

    roboter5123,

They don’t want bots because they can’t steal Personal Info from a bot

The before reminds me of Portland. The waterfront is wasted with i5 and roads running through it.

    ZombieTheZombieCat,

That’s how I feel about SoCal. I noticed on Google Maps a lot of homes are taking up the sea cliffs south of LA. I always thought that all coastline in CA was public…
