You ever see a dog that’s got its leash tangled the long way round a table leg, and it just cannot grasp what the problem is or how to fix it? It can see all the components laid out in front of it, but it’s never going to make the connection....
It’s not always for the benefit of the players. Gameloft, the makers of the Asphalt mobile racing series, was caught making the AI harder during special timed events that allowed you to win extra/special stuff by beating said AI. This was obviously for the express purpose of manipulating people into playing more and even though I once loved playing Asphalt 8 & 9, I no longer touch any of their games because of how shitty and disingenuous that is.
There are 309 million possible ways to combine 6 letters. I would wager only a few million are even remotely pronounceable. The notion that someone can claim a bunch of those words and prevent other people from using them, even in unrelated areas, is completely absurd. There are over 8 billion people on this planet, words get reused. They should just fucking deal with it.
I daily drive Firefox, but more and more websites are starting to break without Chromium, so I still have to occasionally switch to get something working. I was using Ungoogled Chromium until I realized that there was no easy way to update it when that pixel-stealing exploit came out a while back....
I don’t know what percentage of women think this way, but I’ve anecdotally seen a fair few of them declare “all men are pigs” or something similar in response to being wronged by someone who happens to be a man. (Not in a mugging/assault type way)
To the lefties: remember that every time you say you “hate all men” or something similar, you’re making the same kind of prejudiced judgments that righties do when they declare all Jews or Muslims to be evil.
To the righties: remember that every time you’re accused of being evil just for being a man, you’re doing the same thing to Jews or Muslims when you say you hate them all.
To the centrists: this isn’t a centrist take. The man-haters on the left are a small minority and the religious and racial bigots on the right are a majority (based on the politicians they elect). Quit being a dipshit and move to the left so we can get single-payer healthcare and stop oppressing minorities.
I took it to mean that too and thought it was saying that there was some update that was taking forever. We already got 4 though, so it wouldn’t make any sense being posted lately.
I’m not aware of communities like that on Lemmy, but Reddit’s got r/terriblefacebookmemes, a bunch of subs with the format r/shit____say(s), r/therightcantmeme, etc. They’re unambiguously posting the content because they don’t like it and want everyone to hate on it with them.
Well, laughing at something in the way you described is kind of just a different way of hating on it, is it not? Even the way you phrased, “…calling out the stupidity of shit other people say,” suggests a strong dislike of the statements showcased on those subs.
Yes, but you also probably don’t repost screenshots of cringeworthy anime-centric posts other people have made so that you can make fun of them with other people. There’s a difference between seeing something, going, “lol that’s dumb,” and moving on VS seeing something, going, “lol so fucking stupid,” taking a screenshot, and posting it somewhere else so you and a bunch of other people can spend time making fun of it and tearing it apart in the comments.
From the sounds I hear above me, I’m fairly convinced the upstairs neighbors have a bowling alley set up in one of the bedrooms. The people below play music that’s so loud that they must be deaf and their dog barks for literal hours when they leave. Not to mention the dipshits with gas-powered leaf blowers pushing dust around pretty regularly regardless of if there are any actual leaves.
I pay for Spotify for 7 years or so now and i'm so sick of all the ads. After every update there seems to be an: oops, sorry, you have ads now. Podcasts are filled with ads. I was just listening to a podcast where they shoved in 3 ads mid-sentence. How long until musicians put ads in their songs. I'm just so sick of it.
Reminds me of that crazy scene from Picard where they get holographic popup ads on their ship.
It might just be my crazy conspiracy theory brain, but I feel like they’re trying to normalize advertising in a supposedly idyllic and utopian future society to make us see them as more of a necessity than they actually are. Same thing with Raffi living in poverty and Picard having private ownership of the means of production (his vineyard) with employees. So much for that “money-free socialist utopia.”
