I think you could drastically minimize any impact by doing the time travel in space and merely observing from high orbit, assuming your time machine has no form of exhaust, which if you have a time machine seems like a relatively small engineering challenge by comparison.
You might displace a few atoms in the void, but it’s the safest way one could go about it.
Not to even mention that most social issues are exacerbated by our disgraceful economic inequity, but we’re only allowed to argue the symptoms, as our beloved society market capitalist economy is too perfect and sacred to change to Republicans and Neoliberals alike.
Abortions are often economic decisions, for example, and correctly so when you can’t afford to raise a child. If you want significantly fewer abortions, living wages, paid maternity leave, social supports etc would do that, as just 1 example.
Plus, it’s not like the climate will just snap back into place when the boomers are finally too old for their skeleton talons to cling to power. That shit is going to take generations of sacrifice to roll back, if it doesn’t topple civilization first.
The whole ethos of the majority of baby boomers seems to have been to raze the forest they got to enjoy behind them (as opposed to planting trees whose shade they’d never sit in like most generations aspire to), and they seem to be having remarkable success in that.
I wouldn’t have trusted Fred Rogers with a billion dollars, and he’s practically the only famous stranger I could have seen trusting with my newborn alone.
It’s a society warping level of wealth. No single, unelected, unaccountable person should possess that much uniltateral power.
The global allowance encouragement of such an exploitative, reckless goal is why we are in our various bleak situations.
In this case I’m glad. We are close to achieving the technology to let technology self-iterate and propagate.
The direction our species chooses to apply this technology will be a reflection and measure of who we are with commensurate rewards and/or consequences.
Will some voices of sanity let us harness the power of this atom to enlighten the world? Or will we follow tradition and use our newfound power to make big boomie boom rival tribe over there, yet again?
Shed your shame of pornography, unless that’s your kink.
Almost everybody bates, and those who don’t for reasons of indignation, I’m not hating on the genuine asexuals or people with health issues that inhibit self-pleasure, are usually the pent up, “only one right way to live” A types I don’t enjoy the company of or have any respect for anyway.
It’s been how many generations? The puritans that came here to escape living among cool Europeans to self flagellate are beyond dust. Prudes suck. Make lust not greed.
Unless you grow and/or slaughter ALL your own food, you have eaten and will continue to eat both the intentional and unintentional shit, piss, spit, and cum of food processors, transporters, and preparers your entire life.
I know that freaks a lot of people out, personally it just reminds me that the idea of being clean in this world has always been a illusion and that there’s no point obsessing over something out of my control.
If we wanted that to happen significantly less, we could compensate and respect said workers commensurate with their vital role to society, fulfilling a universal basic human need, instead of treating them like shit, paying them shit, and calling food preparation/processing/serving “unskilled,” but we won’t, so enjoy!
