Anticorp, to asklemmy in [SERIOUS] How do you do figure out what job you want after high school?

College is a great place to start. Unfortunately college is ridiculously expensive these days, but community college is still pretty affordable. There are so many things you don’t even know exist in the world right after highschool. The world also works a lot differently than you’ve seen so far, so a college level education is really beneficial. Go to community college, knock out some Gen Ed courses, and take some interesting classes for your electives. You’ll learn about stuff that you didn’t know existed and you may find that you’re passionate about some of those things.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in In which game did you spend the most hours?

I basically lived in Azeroth for about 6 years. No other game will ever come close to the number of hours I played WoW.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in Downvotes = “I disagree” or “this is bad and you should feel bad”?

That’s what a lot of us agreed it was for a long time ago, but most people use it as an “I don’t like this”, or “I disagree” button. Some people even use it as an “I don’t like you personally” button. There were a few times on Reddit when I got into an argument with someone and they went through my profile and downvoted everything they saw until they got bored.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in What is the most unhelpful advice you have received?

Thanks, I’m cured!

Anticorp, to asklemmy in Anyone else missing posts in smaller Lemmy communities because they are overshadowed by the popular ones?

I blocked that community because it dominated every feed.

And then 20 years later the industry was like, hey, that actually worked, let’s just make that the standard now.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in What's something you'd change in men's fashion, given the chance?

And armor. While we’re at it, swords too.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in Those who tried Linux and went back to Windows, what caused you to go back to Windows?

Many DE have received substantial improvements over the last couple of years. It sounds like you’re really looking for something lightweight, more than you are something that is fully featured. I don’t have much experience with the lightweight Linux DE, because when I need performance I just use command line like you do. I’m sure if you did some searching, you could find a really snappy DE, but it doesn’t sound very important for your use case. Definitely do check out some of the full-featured desktops though if you ever decide to use Linux as a primary PC. Several of them are really slick now.

Steam works flawlessly with Linux now. If you have an Nvidia GFX card then you can even get a Pop!_OS install with the driver pre-configured. It’s pretty rad!

Say fucking what? When was the last time you tried KDE or Gnome? Gnome is a beautiful masterpiece that blows Windows and Mac OS desktops out of the water.

I can’t use Fusion 360 on Linux, so I dual boot windows. But that’s the only time I ever go back. I don’t even run a bootloader with options and you’d never know Windows is on my machine unless you interrupted the boot process and checked boot drives. Getting into Windows is a manual process on my system.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in What is the craziest thing that's ever happened in your life?

So many things, but for ease of sharing I’ll just go with the time I drove off a cliff in a car.

Anticorp, to asklemmy in What is the craziest thing that's ever happened in your life?

Somehow, amazingly, I walked away with nothing but a concussion.
