Xubuntu is still too heavy, you have to strip it further and go for Lubuntu. Nothing like a 400 MB idle memory load on the desktop

    I daily Windows 11… though I use Ubuntu for servers and Mint for my linux desktops (older hardware that doesn’t W11).

    I’m more concerned about this “You only need 8GB of RAM (shared between the system and GPU)” bit. Go 16 or go home. I would expect 32GB from a 4 figure laptop, considering Windows laptops 1/4 the price have better specs.
