Limit it to corporations of a certain size then. It’s not people like your friend that are doing the bulk of the damage. It’s large corporations buying up entire neighborhoods to rent them forever.
Linus has a full walkthrough video on how to set this up. I followed it and it appears to be working. I run it on my always on PC and set my address as the home for Netflix. Others have android TVs and have been using the app to check in and continue watching “while traveling”. No issues so far. If they stay connected the bandwidth will go through your network, so keep that in mind
I left it open, and posted reminders through a roughly 1 week period. Some people don’t visit communities directly, so pinned threads get missed. This way people see it in their feeds and you can account for a few different time zones.

I am for a merge. It worked well for my communities to merge (PlayStation and PS5) and I think it will be successful here also. I chose to keep my PS5 community open, but since you are dealing with merging multiple communities it might be good to lock them with a pinned post for at least a little while.
Once the dust settles I think opening them back up (but keeping the pinned post) would be a good option to give the choice back to the community for those that eventually wish to splinter off.
Also you’re getting downvotes because you’re just asking for others to do the work for you. I suggest helping to post the content you want to see on that existing community I linked. It doesn’t have many subs and some of it is old, but it has existing moderators
It's a bug that wasnt an issue when the community was smaller. Last I heard they will replace it with a refresh icon that pops up at the top when new posts are available.
