Yup, covid really did ramp up the ableism in society to a whole new level..
It's not only that people think that because they didn't feel that bad or have long term side-effects, covid simply isn't that bad or have serious long term side effects, so in their own minds they not only don't need to make any effort to protect themselves, never mind others (mostly already marginalised people they prefer to ignore in everyday life, so why not now), they also have a new (and constantly growing) group of people to scapegoat and gaslight and tell it isn't really that bad because it wasn't that bad for them, and that they should just "suck it up".
I won't even start on the part capitalism and the governments and media who uphold and serve it have played in making it this way, and how a desperate and divided population benefits them, which is why they're never going to do anything about it..
For reasons I may not disclose freely on the internet. I am going to celebrate new years eve this year by myself. Does anyone know of ways to solitarily celebrate new years eve?...
This might not be the answer you're looking for but the way I see it, it's just another day, and we generally put far too much pressure on it and on ourselves on it, and that it's perfectly fine to not do anything special.
If for your own reasons you really do want to celebrate anyway, try and make/order your favourite meal, think of a good movie or two that always make you feel nice, and spend your evening enjoying those, but most importantly - don't feel down or bad for being alone, there's nothing wrong with that, and even if it feels like there is, this one night has very little significance in the grand scheme of things.
Similar to the recent question about artists where you can successfully separate them from their art. Are there any artists who did something so horrible, so despicable, that it has instantly invalidated all art that they have had any part in?
Lmmfao, yeah good luck with that.. (hint: the people who own those companies also own the government who makes the laws, there is no reforming capitalism, it's designed that way)
If you can't make your point without being an ableist ass, maybe don't bother making it at all (in this case, you've not only shown yourself off as an ableist, but as one who has zero understanding of US politics, too, so you've really contributed nothing of any value, and have just made the community more hostile, great job)
Really, how can I stop them from eating my plants? Some don’t have leaves anymore. They are not even edible. They are even biting the cacti for some reason....
I think you need to try and figure out why they're eating the plants.
Are they indoor cats? If so try growing some cat grass for them (any pet supplier should have some), I would imagine they would choose that over a cactus any day!
If they don't though - it might be worth asking your vet since that really isn't healthy behaviour.
If they do go outdoors, I would suspect it isn't that they're missing anything but that something is stressing them out, are the plants all in the same area or by windows? There might be something outside making them act strange (I think it's more likely they would spray if it was this, but it's worth considering).
The problem is not being able to diferenciate between disabled people fighting tooth and nail for their rights, and oil companies (as a single example of capitalisms) paying pocket change over cocktails to continue exploiting humanity and destroying the planet.
They are not the same, nor do they deserve the same rights and considerations, yet disabled people are still marginalised and widely discriminated against, while oil companies make record profits, because they're actively working to convince people like you that they are the same, and do deserve the same consideration, and that if you stop them, you'll be harming disabled people too. They're literally concern trolling you while they stomp all over the disabled people you've evoked to argue for the capitalists' rights, as well as billions of others.
When men get cheered on and aggrandised for having a high "body count", while women get shamed and stigmatised if they do, it isn't borderline, it's blatant and outright sexism.
Cheese and fruit are a pretty well known and loved combination (not just fresh like on a cheese board, but things like chutney too), I don't see why it wouldn't work (I wouldn't eat it because I don't like raisins, but I don't object to the idea)

First of all, let me introduce you to this little word:
or
it means one could be, or another could be. It is not an assertion.
Now to the point:
Imagine that, a guy who centres his entire life around booze to a degree that he prioritises recording a booze review for an audience of zero over interacting with his partner that is walking out on their relationship, is setting of some red flags.
Also imagine that - people who have suffered domestic abuse can recognise those red flags from miles away while those who haven't sit there and smugly brush them off. I bet plenty of the people here also say shit like "if it was that bad she would have left" which is why I made my comment explaining why victims of abuse either don't leave or leave and then go back.
But hey, it's all jokes to those of you who think this shit will never impact you personally.
I prefer to be aware of when I’m being advertised to
Always. the answer is always. Because even when you're not actively consuming any media, the advertisements (including more subtle things like product placements and viral marketing like this) have already been absorbed and are doing their thing.
The monsters aren't the ones being created, the monsters are the ones creating those circumstances to begin with.
I know you didn't mean anything by it, but that shift in focus is really important to point out, because those same people rely on you and me to see the poor people who's lives they destroyed as the problem, instead of whose who really are.
If you got COVID and lost the ability to taste things, did it ever come back? Otherwise, did you experience any other long term consequences from the pandemic in general?
Never heard any follow ups on the taste thing, so I need answers...
Does anyone else feel like every year is like the movie 'Groundhog Day'? Same holidays, same birthdays, same work week, etc
I am to celebrate new years eve alone. How can I celebrate solo?

What do you like about socialism?
Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

given how little one vote matter, it seems to me that stripping felons of their right to vote is both petty and counterproductive if the point was to reform them into civic minded individuals ?
Also, seems kind of scary that this implies a future where so many people are in prison that their vote could actually tip the balance ?
