I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

IDK if it’s available on mobile, but Firefox has a Facebook container plug in that automatically isolates any Facebook or meta adjacent site to keep them from accessing anything else. It auto blocks FB elements on other sites (like those embedded comment sections or like button sticks)

    With the guarantee to never time out, I didn’t know student loans got traded like Pokémon cards akin to medical debt.

    I wonder if you could get these buyers like you can get most medical buyers, with them not having the appropriate records to “prove” you owe it. 🤔I’m sure that loophole is probably closed for student debt though.

    Counterpoint: Perhaps “Don’t buy from evil” is just a catchy way to share a sentiment and you’re taking it too literally/to an unintended extreme to be riled up as hard as you are about it? I see no intent from those comments in line with “fuck you if you give Bezos money” as you imply.

    For example: Sonic’s “GOTTA GO FAST,” but in reality, he IS capable of standing around. “Gotta go fast” doesn’t mean his circulatory system shuts down if he doesn’t, it’s just a short catchy way to share an aspect of himself. In that vein, nobody’s kicking your door down if you get the specialized thing you need from Amazon, just saying that it can be beneficial to shop in other ways when possible.

    None of those gun nuts have ever been able to answer my basic question about their stated goal of everyone carrying at all times -

    You’re at a public event, few hundred+ people in attendance,everybody (even just most) are packing. A gun goes off. Every “Good guy with a gun” turns toward the sound while pulling their guns. You now have 50-100+ (adjusted for crowd size) people with guns drawn. How do you know which of the 50-100+ people actually fired their gun?

    Noone has ever had any answer other than “oH yOuD kNoW” which, call me crazy, doesn’t really answer the question.
