As pointed out in This Week in GNOME, there’s been some continued work on Variable Rate Refresh for the GNOME desktop. The VRR setting within GNOME Settings continues to be iterated on as the developers iron out how they’d like to present the Variable Rate Refresh setting for users. The developers have been discussing how to...
I’m thinking about moving my PC out to the living room and streaming back to my office when I need to. I’ve used a number of moonlight clients with mixed results....
Biggest downside for me is that everyone has the default skin when not verifying that. But that could easily be fixed with a mod or maybe even just a server-side plugin.
I’ve always just used konsole or gnome terminal. Never really looked into what else is available. Tried cool-retro-term the other day, but the novelty wore off pretty fast for me....
EDIT: Putting this at the top because not everyone is seeing what I actually need. I can unpack the rar archive just fine. What I can’t do (on arm) is add to/update the files in the rar archive. I have unrar already installed. What I can’t install is the rar package to create/update rar archives....
I have a unique name, think John Doe, and I’m hoping to create a unique and “professional” looking email account like johndoe@gmail.com or john@doe.com. Since my name is common, all reasonable permutations are taken. I was considering purchasing a domain with something unique, then making personal family email accounts for...
You can’t really torrent it, the game version gets downloaded when you start it, so you’d either have to torrent every version you want to download or download everything at once, which would take way too much space. The thing is, you don’t even need to. You can make an account without buying the game and you can still play it. There’s dedicated launchers for playing the game with an account that doesn’t own it.
Also, Veloren is not similar to Minecraft at all, even if it’s still a very good game. There’s Minetest tho, which is also open source and it has a gamemode as a mod, which tries to be a copy of Minecraft.
what if I, for example, had a job in Google and I liked Linux so much I install Ubuntu on my Chromebook, would that be illegal/send me to prison?? Or, if I had the job, would I be kicked?? I like Chromebooks because they are so smol and nice. But I don’t know if it’s legal to install a Linux distro on it. Thank you!!
I want to run only qBittorrent through my VPN but with my current setup, I have a namespace for OpenVPN and qBittorrent runs entirely through it. The issue with that is that Sonarr and Radarr can’t access it. Because of that, I would like to switch my setup to use a network interface instead. What would be the best way to do...
Will that install qBittorrent by itself and allow Sonarr and Radarr that run outside the container to speak to it? Then it would be perfect
Edit: For some reason I thought it was a torrent client but it’s just a VPN client. So it creates a network interface but doesn’t route all traffic through it?

Hello linix@lemmy, I got fixed on the idea of replacing my iPad with a 2in1 like the thibkpad X13 for uni since I use the keyboard with my iPad a lot. The only time I need to take handwritten notes is in chemistry, mathematics and to annotate PDFs. Does anyone here have experience with convertibles running Linux? What would be...
I’m using the HP Envy x360 convertible 15-eu[some numbers I don’t remember]. It’s working pretty good. Only things that don’t work are the fingerprint reader and it doesn’t detect when you flip it over automatically but I just use a GNOME extension that allows me to manually toggle the onscreen keyboard.
