Hey 👋 dear Linux Community,

I'm still kinda new to Linux (started using this year 😅) I already made it to my main OS, even if I still missing some things which I used on Windows, anyway. What I wanted to ask you guys, what recommendations do you have for Linux Mint (Cinnamon)? In terms of security, optimization, (a way to make the UI looking modern ;-;) and privacy? I would be very interested in what you do guys to optimize your Linux setup :) I'm pretty technical, so there is nothing which could overwhelm me (probaly).

Thx! 🤍

Does mint ship a kde plasma variation? I find that UI to be more modern than cinnamon

Its not advised to install steam os on non steamdeck devices. Pop os, nobara and Garuda I believe come configured for gaming out of the box and are pretty uptodate.

170c but I forgot what time I put it in. I was aiming for 1:30 cooking time.

Yeah that’s why I brought the ham after Christmas. I wanted to practice cooking one. I think I’ve learnt enough to nail it next time.

I had a 15min timer that was reminding me to glaze the ham. But when the ham was done I got distracted and forgot about the rolls.

This is why we must never let cats outnumber humans.

I picked up sea of rust on a whim before I was about to board a flight. It was an unexpectedly fun read.

Fingers crossed the Wayland bug is gone and I can move to Wayland.

The nobara tweaks and configuration can be done on fedora but op is unlikely to know what they are or how to do them. If I remember correctly there’s quite a few important gaming things that fedora doesn’t ship with but I don’t know what they are cause I loaded fedora then switched to nobara after a few hours.

Maybe pop os is a good choice since it’s a mix of gaming related and beginner friendly.

I hate suggesting another distro as a solution but if your main intention is gaming then you may be interested in nobara. It’s fedora but with gaming tweaks applied.

I think windows may win in the little animations but clarity fuck no. Windows is a mess. Opening the start menu on windows feels like a popup ad. Apple though does have good animations and ui clarity so I can’t knock them.

I cant abandon KDE because I like it way to much. I have a powerful computer and I feel like linux is to optimized. Sometimes I just want programs to use as much resources as they need to run perfectly.

I think once I move over to wayland I will feel that snappiness.

Majority of people already use chrome

Sounds cool I’m looking forward to reviews of some older games

Such a dumb comment. No one is forcing this on you. You came into a discussion about biohacking to complain that you don’t like it.

You are already kind, thoughtful and appreciative. These quotes resonate with you because you already learnt the life lessons behind them.

I like odysee as well since its the only alternative that has lots of content. However the video performance sucks(I don’t blame them). I like that I can contribute to the network.

I wish odysee content was available on peertube. Because peertube performance is good and I’d have no problem Donating to my instance host.

Go be a cleaner. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding work but it’s hard work.

Why are there so many experts on this topic.

[META] Creating a new community is easy, but to get people on board, you need to create some content.

If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That’s not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it’s a ghost town and leave....

What might be a good idea is to spend a bit of time each week gathering content and then using github.com/RikudouSage/LemmySchedule to spread out the posting throughout the week. Then you can comment on it as it shows up on your feed.
