[META] Creating a new community is easy, but to get people on board, you need to create some content.

If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That’s not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it’s a ghost town and leave....

HidingCat,

Also to everyone creating a community, it takes time. Don't get too discouraged if uptake is slow!

HidingCat,

And as someone from east Asia, Lunar New Year starts a month before. All these too early festivities are annoying the hell out of me.

HidingCat,

Same energy and rationale (on the business side), I've started to see Lunar New Year shit go up before Christmas. I hate it and it annoys me.

HidingCat,

Oh great, a pedant.

BORU used those terms, and people understood what they meant. Did you really have to display your pedantry like a badge of honour?

HidingCat,

How is it confusing? I've tried both and neither were hard to use, I purely picked Kbin for aesthetics.

HidingCat,

I think Kbin isn't, because of bandwidth/CPU concerns.

HidingCat,

I think different countries have different PPP, so I wouldn't say it's fair to compare directly like that. I think ease of access to such services and how much it costs in relation to wages is a better gauge.

HidingCat,

I think 10Gbps in general is the max. I haven't thought about that level of speed because it's expensive, for both the plan and the need to upgrade all my network equipment to support 10Gb.

HidingCat,

I didn't even know this was a thing! Is it a pretty universal symbol now?

HidingCat,

We're early adopters. Early adopters have a higher tolerance for (and ability to deal with) things like bugs, confusing UI, uncertainty, and probably continual change for the short term.

Not to mention, a lack of content. While it's populating nicely it's still not like Reddit, especially for niche subjects. You definitely have to endure a lot of shouting in the wind situations while this builds up.
