Similar to the recent question about artists where you can successfully separate them from their art. Are there any artists who did something so horrible, so despicable, that it has instantly invalidated all art that they have had any part in?
Canadian here. I believe in reconciliation with the indigenous population, but I've yet to see anything but words from provincial and federal governments
How about respecting the sovereign land of the people that don't have treaties yet? Wetsuoten (spelling?) land defenders are still being harassed by the RCMP on the regular
I 100% would. It's short term loss for long term gain.
Which microscope are you going to buy? The one with the software that's company supported through it's amortization period and then community supported afterwards, or the one where you're sol after it's paid off?
Lots of labs don't need the highest end equipment, and the ones that do could sell the old ones.
That would work if we didn't have everything set up to throw out, which is a different problem all together. I've worked in IT procurement for a fairly big corporation, and I've seen dumpsters filled with slightly old iPhones because it made more sense to accounting.
I am an anarchist, so the idea of the community doing all the work, creating content, and then mods basically ruling over them as a reward, just doesn’t sit right with me....
To piggy back a bit, I can block people from kbin, so I've thought about this a bit.
What if you are in an instance that has users with great memes. Someone csam person joins and you just block that person. Maybe you're a little proactive and go through comments and block any supporter that's supportive of the csam.
A month or two goes by, the memes are still good, but you talk with someone from another instance and it turns out you're on a csam instance. You had no idea because you blocked all the csam content.
The Matrix is an often used example, but for me it’s the Alien Prequels - especially Alien: Covenant really makes the Original Alien much worse. When the original was released in 1979 it had the perfect Monster. A dangerous killing machine of unknown origin. The missing background of the alien is a big part of its scary mess....
It's the only time I think it's happened at that scale as well. It was a cultural force. A real Watercooler show in the age of streaming.
We'll probably never see something so big again, and it's largely forgotten. I can't even recommend it even though it's got some of the best episodes of any show.
Anti-trans group, 1 Million March 4 Children, planned massive protests against the rights of trans students. They were largely drowned out by huge crowds of supporters for trans rights and unions....
Except for two places. Kitchener and Surrey.
Kitchener has seen a rise in LGBTQ hate crimes as well. Generally it's been perpetuated by high school kids, so nothing will happen
In order to colonize mars, having a good space station in orbit would help out immensely. We're talking big enough to stretch out and hold a few hundred people.
The station would need to grow crops and have minor but flexible manufacturing.
At that point, why would you colonize mars vs just make more stations?
You can make a radiation field by running a large motor that would save you from the solar radiation.
In space you always have access to the sun. A cheap form of power. You need a lot more batteries if you're on the planet.

Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

If you could custom make your *perfect* shoes, what features would they have?
Preferably realistic features, but if your perfect shoe involves some kinda anti-grav hover features, I’d absolutely understand....
