Omega_Jimes,

Somebody’s been reading old issues of Knight of the Dinner Table?

Omega_Jimes,

Yeah. Some folk use portable computers on top of their laps. It’s weird :/

Omega_Jimes,

I mean yes, but there’s way better exposure from online videos. Things like this 100% should have an accompanying post though.

Linux working in one monitor but not in the other

So, yesterday I was trying to install Fedora on a PC with an Nvidia graphics card, it is a bit old and it has an Intel CPU. Basically as soon as I booted the USB it went all weird like if it would be having a graphical glitch like going all rainbow in some parts and stop responding, I tried a few more times under a UEFI secure...

Omega_Jimes,

Are you using the legacy Nvidia drivers? They dropped support for the 600 series gpu, so you’ll need to make sure you’re using a driver version "470.something?

Omega_Jimes,

Does the TikTok have access to your home wifi network?

Omega_Jimes,

My really nice blurays that are new, I use Make-MKV and I don’t compress them. My normal movies/etc, I just download high quality rips.

Omega_Jimes,

Changing the channel on tvs in public spaces mostly.

Omega_Jimes,

I love Wayland until I don’t. I honestly don’t think about it, it gets out of my way and my system is stable, until I go to use something like scrcpy that just doesn’t work at all. Luckily, the amount of things that straight up don’t work is shrinking.

Omega_Jimes,

I don’t have to go all the way to betelgeuse to get pamplemouse. They have it at the store down the street.

Omega_Jimes,

I have a standing theory that once a person is no longer concerned about their welfare or the welfare of their descendants, they go crazy.

Like, once you reach a point where survival is no longer a problem, that part of your brain goes nuts. It’s not a flawless theory, since philanthropy is a thing and people like Dean Kamen exist, but it’s a thing that seems to happen an awful lot.

Omega_Jimes,

Until Strange New World came out, Orville was my favorite Trek since TNG.

Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?

The Infinity Blade or Minigore series, for example, or anything made by Illusion Labs. These games are genius and most consoles don’t even have a touch screen or utilise it well like some smartphone games do....

Omega_Jimes,

Who cares what other people think of you’re having fun?

Personally, I’ve never really had a good experience with mobile games. I keep trying, but the games I get recommended seem shallow, and I have a serious aversion to ads so that ruins most mobile experiences for me. The games I have enjoyed on mobile are mostly puzzle games, or clones and ports of games from other systems. But who cares what I think if you have fun. My partner spends way more time playing games on their phone than on PC or PS5. Different strokes, and all that.

Omega_Jimes,

Unexpected age reminders are the worst part of the internet.

Omega_Jimes,

I own many many hard books that I’ve purchased or had ordered from my local bookstores.

I also have a kindle that I use every evening and have never paid for an ebook.

Omega_Jimes,

I stopped for a long time, but I’ve continued with the launches of things like Metalocalypse or Venture Bros. Smaller productions that I want to support but aren’t streaming in my country.

Heck, back when Metalocalypse released their first movie there was a limited edition version with a skull cup that was only available in Australia for some reason. I imported the set for my SO, and I had to rip the bluray myself :/

Omega_Jimes,

It’s a nightmare. I couldn’t find a method that worked so I ended up using an older PDF.

Omega_Jimes, (edited )

I’m always curious how long people spend staying at their desktops. My laptop has six virtual desktops and I can’t see the background on any of them.

One for each uni course and one for general use, and they all have 2-3 windows open. It’s super handy for school since I can just swipe and pick up where I left off on every course.

Edit: That’s not to take away from a gorgeous desktop. It looks really nice.

Omega_Jimes,

This should be done to any laptop after 4 years. A tube of paste only costs like $5, and it will have a massive difference.

Should I install Linux on my smartphone?

I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 (2018) smartphone which currently has the stock Samsung Android OS installed on it. I wanted to install an Android “distro” that doesn’t spy on me, like Graphene OS, but I couldn’t find a ROM for it. Since I would probably need to compile AOSP from source code anyways, I though, why not install...

Omega_Jimes,

Computer is computer, and it works great. Phone is computer, so it should work great.

I understand this thought train, but yeah I had the same reaction as well.

Omega_Jimes,

This would really rely on having a very competent and trust worthy source, and in not sure if that exists for software the same way it does for movies/ TV shows.

Omega_Jimes,

Also don’t boil your vegetables. I was raised in boiled broccoli and sprouts, and steaming baskets changed my life!
