Pelicanen,

One thing that works for me on Pop OS is to switch audio device in the settings, it’s like the buffer gets filled up and switching device flushes it.

Pelicanen,

Honest question: Why? Muscles aren’t hard when they’re relaxed, a muscular person would still be soft and cuddly if they’re not flexing.

What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

Pelicanen,

Of course, a French study later showed at large scales people who consumed aspartame were slightly more likely to develop cancer in the following decades

If we’re gonna be correct about this, the study showed that there’s potentially an increased risk of developing cancer but there is a lot of data that still needs to be analyzed, so it’s a bit early to draw conclusions.

Pelicanen,

The mathematician misses three feet to the left and the physicist misses three feet to the right. If you take the average of those two, like in statistics, it’s right in the middle and would hit the deer.

Pelicanen,

We didn’t create dogs though and often we try to minimize their suffering as much as possible.

Pelicanen,

If this isn’t a fetish, I can assure you that it’s not worth it. Get some friends, a hobby, a bodypillow, and some ethically sourced porn, it’ll save you both your money and your sanity.

Pelicanen,

I agree with a lot of this but I’m a bit iffy when it comes to makeup. I think that the normalized use of makeup for women has put unhealthy expectations and pressures on women to look different rather than accepting someone’s actual appearance. I don’t think extending that to men would be a good idea and in my mind it would likely only increase these pressures.

Of course people are allowed to like makeup and use it for different reasons, including covering up blemishes, but a lot of people feel the need to spend an hour putting on makeup every morning just to be accepted and I think that’s really bad.

Pelicanen,

Doesn’t make it right. Michael Jackson’s dad abused his kids and they became world famous artists, doesn’t mean abusing your kids is acceptable or should be seen as such.

Pelicanen,

Excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Tzeentch?

Pelicanen,

Maybe there were so many satellites that at some point two collided and caused a bunch of space debris, which makes sending up satellites incredibly difficult and satellite usage limited to mostly communication?

Pelicanen,

You could have satellite detection rely more on using another range in the electromagnetic spectrum since having enough coverage for visual detection is too difficult (think RADAR for example) with the ship providing some unique solution for it. Either like airplanes do to prevent the signals bouncing off it to begin with, or something super high-tech where it analyzes that spectrum of radiation and then calculates what the response would be if it wasn’t there.

But that might be getting into too tech-garbled territory.

Pelicanen,

If they are oppositely charged particles, I would expect that there is a force of attraction acting on them, yes.

Pelicanen,

But those are the same thing.

Pelicanen,

Yes, and a force acting in the opposite direction of the distance is an attractive force.

Pelicanen,

Depends on the trash. Depends on the shit.

Pelicanen,

Not only her rights, the rights of people who aren’t straight, the rights of people who aren’t cis, the rights of kids to have a decent education, the rights of indigenous people, the rights of non-whites. That’s even not to mention that they’re against providing people with healthcare so that they don’t die, against trying anything that might make this planet livable in the future (for the kids that they claim to want to protect), and against not trying to fucking overthrow democracy. I don’t need to agree with my partner’s every opinion and political ideal, but at the very least I have to be able to respect them, and throwing everyone who isn’t a well-off white man off a cliff for “lower taxes” isn’t something I can respect.

Pelicanen,

Well, no, but we’re all made out of atoms but I don’t think anyone would say that a human and an equivalent pile of raw material are the same.

Pelicanen,

Local minimum, not a global minimum. Evolution is one long autoregressive process.

Pelicanen,

I don’t really like the take that it is solely Batman’s responsibility to kill the Joker. Batman acts as a vigilante, and in order to not take actions that one cannot provide restitution for, he has a strict rule that he cannot kill. He enforces the law but he doesn’t act like he’s the judge, jury, or the executioner. He stops them and he lets the judicial system sentence them. The people he hands over the Joker to every single time has far more ample opportunity to kill him. The police, the judge deciding on capital punishment, prison guards, a random bystander with a gun. None of them carry the same extrajudicial responsibility that the Batman imposes on himself in order to remain accountable or at least not start taking charge of life and death.

The problem wouldn’t be that the Batman kills the Joker. The problem would be when he starts deciding whether others are better off dead than alive.
