I don’t. Fuck intubating them, fuck admitting them to the hospital at all, that’s room that could go to treating someone not dying from the consequences of their own actions.

An episode of the IT Crowd had a B story that was kinda transphobic. It was minor enough and the show was popular enough he probably could’ve easily just apologized and that would’ve been that. But instead, in 2013 after said episode was brought up and criticized for being transphobic to the creator, said creator tripled down and became a full on anti-trans “activist” who makes even JK Rowling seem benign by comparison.

Agreed, but fix your disrespect. It’s Spider-Man! Respect the hyphen.

There’s over 30 mexican restaurants in my town of less than 30,000 people.

Tokyo is LITERALLY the biggest city in the entire world. 30ish restaurants is absolutely a needle in a haystack.

Perfide, to comicstrips in xkcd - Spirit

We probably won’t, to be honest. It’ll end up in the first Martian Museum, if anything.

I think it’s a “I don’t know what else I was expecting” kind of frown.

Please no

The last straw for me was about a decade ago when an update completely broke Chrome on my machine. It would open and immediately crash, even after reinstalling. Everything else worked fine, virus scans came back clean and everything, it was only Chrome. I spent the next 2 months playing browser roulette before settling on ol’ reliable Firefox once again.

Well tell Merne to turn around.

Perfide, to asklemmy in Do the right wing women in relationships with right wing guys think it's like a draco malfoy thing where they're a good guy underneath?

I gotta be honest dude, what makes you consider yourself right wing?

Your GF is in STEM, you’d support her continuing her career if she wanted, you split chores fairly… none of that is things I would consider “traditional” or “conservative”.

Policy wise, you’re mostly vague. Economically you don’t seem to have any actual opinion beyond “things aren’t working as they are”. You’re pro-choice(Yes, even if you would only choose to abort in a dire situation, that’s still a pro-choice position), which is not a right wing position.

Like, what actually makes you right wing? Based on what you’ve said so far, I don’t get it. Are you secretly racist as fuck or something?

Perfide, to lemmyshitpost in If you like pina coladas, you might also like walks in the rain

It’s still completely besides the point. Milk chocolate is it’s own food, you don’t taste the sugar or chocolate separately, it’s a homogeneous mixture. You don’t “like sugar more than chocolate”, you like Milk Chocolate more than you like Dark Chocolate. You probably(hopefully… r.i.p your teeth otherwise) also like Milk Chocolate more than you like pure sugar, so by the OPs logic that must mean you like chocolate more than you like sugar, at the same time as you like sugar more than chocolate. See the problem here?

Btw, people do eat spoonfuls of honey which is probably 99.9% sugar.

One, not a completely fair comparison because honey has it’s own distinctive flavor beyond just tasting like sugar. But also two, I’ve never known anyone to just eat multiple spoonfuls of honey by itself. Anecdotal, sure, but I don’t think it’s nearly as common as you seem to be implying it is

Perfide, to lemmyshitpost in If you like pina coladas, you might also like walks in the rain

How is OP right? Just about everyone likes milk chocolate, but you’d be hard pressed to find a significant number of people that enjoy downing spoonfuls of sugar. Clearly it’s not just the sugar people enjoy

The pickle comparison is also perfect. The only difference between dark and milk chocolate is the sugar content, and the only difference between a pickle and a cucumber is the vinegar.

There are still thousands of infections daily(~35,000 in the first week of 2024), and thousands of deaths weekly. Unless Plague Inc. rules have changed, Covid hasn’t lost yet.

Perfide, to memes in 6÷2(1+2)

No, those companies aren’t wrong, but they’re not entirely right either. The answer to “6 ÷ 2(1+2)” is 1 on those calculators because that is a badly written equation and you(not literally you, to be clear) should feel bad for writing it, and the calculators can’t handle it with their rigid hardcoded logic. The ones that do give the correct answer of 9 on that equation will get other equations wrong that it shouldn’t be, again because the logic is hardcoded.

That doesn’t change the fact that that equation worked out on paper is absolutely 9 based on modern rules of math. Calculate the parentheses first, you then have 6 ÷ 2(3). We could solve from here, but to make the point extra clear I’m going to actually expand this out to explicit multiplication. “2(3)” is the same as “2 x 3”, so we can rewrite the equation as “6 ÷ 2 x 3”. All operators now inarguably have equal precedence, which means the only factor left in which order to do the operations is left to right, and thus division first. The answer can only be 9.
