That thing where you put on a fresh pair of socks and one has a hole so you think well I went to all that trouble to pull it on, this will be your last day little buddy, I’ll just throw it away after I wear it today....
Exactly. To me throwing out clothes because they have a hole seem alike throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Most of the time a needle and some thread with fix it.
By corporate culture I mean like what you see with GoogleYouTube/MetaFacebook/etc. to accommodate advertisers and influence people to engage and acknowledge adverts. In turn, by adapt/adjust I mean how some people bleep curses out like fuck/shit/etc., say unalive instead of commit suicide/kill oneself, and make notorious video...
Sounds like the problem is the platforms and their algorithms, who are bending over for their advertiser overlords, who demand censorship. But nah, let’s get mad at kids just trying to make their bits. /s
I recently stumbled upon this announcement of the long awaited Copilot Pro. I need to prepare a PowerPoint presentation this week so any capacity to use this for free would be tremendous. Thanks y’all!
You also might not need CoPilot. You can just ask GPT yo produce an airline for the presentation, ith the information you provide, You could even ask it to leave placeholders for images.
It won’t be an award winning presentation, but if you don’t care too much, GPT mass pretty average presentations.
I find that i can spot AI Images fairly easily these days, especially the sort of fantastical tableaus that get posted to the various AI communities around lemmy. I’m tired of seeing them; it all looks the same to me. Was wondering if im being too sensitive, or if other people are similarly bored of the constant unimaginative...
You hate it because it makes laziness easier…? It is literally the whole season why technology and science exist: To make things easier. Laziness is your boss’ way of making you feel bad for not working more.
Bananas are ridiculously cheap even up here in Canada, and they aren’t grown anywhere near here. Yet a banana can grow, be harvested, be shipped, be stocked, and then be purchased by me for less than it’d cost to mail a letter across town. (Well, if I could buy a single banana maybe…or maybe that’s not the best...
To be fair, banana are only cheap in North America compared to the cost of other fruits. Bananas are pretty expensive if you consider you can get around 8-10 for a dollar in places where they are local.
For instance, say I search for “The Dark Knight” on my Usenet indexer. It returns to me a list of uploads and where to get them via my Usenet provider. I can then download them, stitch them together, and verify that it is, indeed, The Dark Knight. All of this costs only a few dollars a month for me....
Anyone else do "last chance socks"?

What are some of the stranger adaptations/adjustments to corporate culture you've noticed, and imagine emerging?

What are some food items that cost less than what they "should"?

How does Usenet content not immediately get DMCA'd into oblivion?
