ReiRose,

Some things can be grown at home with relative ease and not much space. A lot depends on where you are, how much space you have, your soil, if you can invest money, what spare time you can give. So either research or experimentation is key.

I live in Florida (I’m sorry I’m voting as hard as I can) and have had success with these from seeds or cut-offs from store bought items: Kiwis, passion fruit, pineapple, tomatoes, garlic, turmeric, onion, ginger. These I have bought the plant or seeds from nurseries (or Korean supermarket): Brocoli, any peppers, any dark leafy greens.

There is so much information on youtube. I found the initial time to set up a small garden is about 10- 20 hours in the first 2 weeks, then about 10-20 mins every 2 to 3 days.

The transition from the holiday season back to the normal drudgery is so depressing. Is there any way to make Jan / Feb less depressing?

like, it’s still dark at 5pm, there are barely any sports on, still bitterly cold and austere and it hurts to go outside, but you’re not even looking forward to christmas or the new year. the new year is here, and it’s largely the same as last year. except you’re getting older.

ReiRose,

I second the cleaning. It can be super satisfying.

ReiRose,

Yes! This is the true solution to the holiday blues (and may other problems). Become Pagan. Our celebrations are 13 + 8 every year, plus multiple life events and “because I want to” times.

ReiRose,

ReiRose,

The first few months are so hard, you’re doing great! You are sacrificing this Christmas, but for the next few years you’ll get all your joy and all hers. I got to see my 13 month old open presents for the first time today, and it was worth all those sleepless nights.

(Also note she was way more interested in the boxes and wrapping paper than the gifts…) 😅

ReiRose,

Well done for giving despite all the crap you’ve had to deal with. Sorry about all the bad luck. I am also pleased about your socks. Nice socks are far rarer than they should be.

ReiRose,

I came here to hard disagree, especially with the crepes example, but egg on my face and apologies all around: I am with you regarding spaghetti sauce.

ReiRose,

I kept a 1/4 filled water bottle in my car for butts. The reason I started this is because an old mad shouted at me at the lights.

I accidentally consumed that water once. Shortly afterwards I quit smoking.

ReiRose,

I use it on my baby’s chin to prevent dribble rash.
