See people say this like it’s Black vernacular but dont recognize that it’s just urban vernacular. Urban vernacular changes frequently because there’s more people around. The internet adopts it quickly, and it spreads from there, as the actual initial definition of a memetic concept.

There’s a reason society as a whole doesn’t co-opt rural Black vernacular, and it’s because it isn’t actually racially-based.

SCB,

My daughter has had crushes since kindergarten and absolutely no one has asked her if she “has a boyfriend yet”

Kids develop crushes. You don’t need to make it weird.

SCB,

Multiple countries demonstrating sustained, net-positive fusion reactions seems extremely likely.

People are pretending like this is a big deal when it isn’t, and Mickey mouse memes would never have resulted in any sort of action by Disney because they’re memes.

Here’s an old as shit Mickey Mouse meme. Note how it is still online and no one is in trouble for it, and it isn’t even Steamboat Willie.

Expect this to continue for a while because people love feeling like they’re “sticking it to the man” even though they could’ve been doing that for ages and none of it matters.

A veritable orgy of uninspired crap taking advantage of the fact that people want to feel subversive but don’t actually want to subvert anything or say or do anything interesting, because all of those things are hard.

Basically the same thing as the Pooh-but-not-tigger comics you see posted on here that people pretend are funny.

Every career job I’ve ever left has included my manager helping me to secure a higher position at the new job. I disliked some of those managers.

A big part in learning how to be successful is learning when it’s worth it to be petty and when you should just take your money.

SCB,

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought sentencing was supposed to reflect the severity of the crime and make fair restitution? I

These look like punitive damages designed to dissuade others from repeating what he did.

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

SCB,

We all like/dislike things for different reasons, and that’s okay

Absolutely man. I gush about notorious flop Ninja Assassin elsewhere in this thread. We like what we like and I mean no disrespect.

John Leguizamo is a hidden gem of cinema so the OG Mario punches way above its weight class.

SCB,

Interstellar is a terrible movie that doesn’t say or do anything special and I still don’t understand why anyone thinks it’s so amazing.

I did really like the robot guy though.

SCB, (edited )

I don’t like to take it too seriously.

I am a massive Star Wars fan and cannot understand people who expect it to be high cinema. It’s a series about space wizards and WW2-style air battles. Like all fantasy/SF, it is occasionally commentary on real-world stuff, but it isn’t trying to be Star Trek. Things are allowed to just be fun

SCB,

IMO The Dark Knight was hard-carried by Heath Ledger and without his performance that movie is about as good as DKR, which isn’t great.

SCB,

As a former teacher, this is still extremely obvious.

SCB,

The most brutally fast-paced work environment I’ve ever had looked almost exactly like this

Just double the monitors and make it an open office concept, and it’s a dead ringer.

SCB,

Strong disagree. Massively worse health outcomes, food insecurity, lack of opportunity for children due to worse educational opportunities, and less opportunity to be what you want to be instead of simply survive all contribute to make poverty decidedly not “fine.”

Brave people push boundaries so that less brave people can read things in books.

Edit: I assume the people downvoting this obvious truth think I’m calling them cowards. I assure you I will be right there with you curled up reading books about caving. Fuck all that.

If it’s plastic or metal, as opposed to silicon, the lock can bang into it and make extra noise.

All three have their perks but either minimal lock and metal or silicon are generally the more “discreet” varieties.

Also true for women’s chastity devices, in terms of where the securing place is and what kind of locking mechanism you use.

SCB,

What if your sister lives in a different country, and you haven’t seen her in ages, and she comes to visit you, and then you find out she packed her really sexy lingerie?

pays for own domain/no ads

There is a 0% chance you were an adult in the early 2000s lol

Imagine having ads in things but instead of just being there, they opened in new windows, were loud as fuck, and opened by the hundreds. That’s what the Internet was like

Pop up blockers walked so ad blockers could run.

SCB,

I’m 49 dude

Then you should remember these days more accurately.

People make social media posts instead of geocities pages these days. Content creators are more like the people who used to sell content online than they are the average chucklehead who made a geoshitty page.

People you see with lots of Twitter followers are exactly akin to people who ran pages on free hosting websites. When they link their merch, it’s exactly like how blogs and shit would sell merch.

Youre looking at this with glasses so rosy they’re completely blinding.

SCB,

Gen Z in the macro sense is a very prudish generation. It’s weird because they clad themselves in sex-positivity, and are conceptually pro-sexuality, but individually are often quite prudish and reserved.

Very broad brush, of course.

SCB,

Things are allowed to just be fun.

SCB,

The rate of inflation going down is, in fact, good news.

SCB,

Eggs notably weren’t up because of inflation, but rather due to chickens dying to a chicken-pandemic.

Rest holds true tho!
