Legitimate question - just how do you accumulate 5K tabs? Did you just never close any tabs, like ever?

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

I'm scared to ask, but what is a "situationship"?

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

Unfortunately these types of viral problems are designed the attract people who think they "know it all", so convincing them that their chosen answer isn't as right as they think it is will always be an uphill challenge

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

They weren't asking you if there are two sets of rules, we're in a thread that's basically all qbout the Weak vs. Strong juxtaposition debate, they asked you which you consider correct.

Giving the answer to a question they didn't ask to avoid the one they did is immature.

I can't have stopped because I never started, because I'm not even married... See, even I can answer your bad faith question better than you answered the one @onion asked you.

But I will give it to you that my comment should've stipulated avoiding reasonable questions.

The difference is that there are two sets of rules already in use by large groups of people, so which do you consider correct?

However I still think you need your eyes checked, as the end of this comment by @onion is very clearly a question asking you WHICH ruleset you consider correct.

Unless you're refusing the notion of multiplication by juxtaposition entirely, then you must be on one side of this or the other.

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

When the @onion said there were two different sets of rules, you know as well as I do that they meant strong vs. weak juxtaposition.

You're right that in reality nobody would write an equation like this, and if they did they would usually provide context to help resolve it without resorting to having to guess...

But the point of this post is exactly to point out this hole that exists in the standard order of operations, the drama that has resulted from it, and to shine some light on it.

Picking a side makes no sense only if you have the context to otherwise resolve it... If you were told to solve this equation, and given no other context to do so, you would either have to pick a side or resolve it both ways and give both answers. In that scenario, crossing your arms and refusing to because "it doesn't make sense" would get you nowhere.

In all honesty, I think you're acting like the people who say things like "I've never used algebra, so it was worthless teaching me it as a kid" as though there aren't people who would learn something out of this.

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

That's rich considering what sparked this conversation was you refusing to answer a simple question.

Good luck to you too - with reading comprehension like your's, you might just need it.

Who's to say cows can't be milked in Zootopia?
If you can earn money by donating blood and organs (i.e. part of a kidney or liver), guys can earn money donating sperm, women donating eggs, then why couldn't a Zootopia cow (or other mammals for that matter) donate their milk?

There's plenty of nuance to be had here, but there's a clear cut reason as to why many are steering towards Anti-Israel, and it's not Judaism.

It is true that Hamas has slaughtered innocent civilians, and Israel absolutely had to respond...

But how on Earth can you sit there and side with a country who's reaction to a terrorist attack was to commit human rights violations and start a genocide against innocent civilians of that nationality?

Do you mean to tell me that bombing hundreds of innocent Palestinians, and then cutting off essential water and electricity to many more is a warranted response to any of this?

Also, since I keep seeing this - stop with the "Anti-Israel = Anti-Semite" crap - Israel is a Jewish state, not Judaism itself. This is the equivalent of saying Saudi Arbia represents all of Islam because of Mecca, or that the Vatican city represents all of Christianity.

Criticising Israel for playing a game of morality limbo with the Hamas isn't an attack on Judaism, nor is it advocating for any kind of hatred towards Jewish people.

Though let's be honest, if you won't even take a Jewish person's word for it that your take is shite, you're never gonna take mine.

As someone who browses KBin/Lemmy fairly often, I can't say I ever see massive amounts of Linux talk even on the All tab. Usually it's just pictures of cats and star-trek memes

Ah, I see this is one of those little differences between KBin and Lemmy.

This is what I see...

So you guys see that first one as just the GIF and not that massive URL that we see.

Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?

The Infinity Blade or Minigore series, for example, or anything made by Illusion Labs. These games are genius and most consoles don’t even have a touch screen or utilise it well like some smartphone games do....

Th4tGuyII, (edited )
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

Personally I won't judge people for playing mobile games, there are some good ones out there, but most of the ones I've seen seem very streamlined towards player monetisation, or are slot-machines by a different name - it's the same reason I often won't play "Free to Play" games on PC either.

I'm curious as to what genre of games you play, because some absolutely would benefit from touchscreens (i.e. visual novels, point-and-click games), but I can imagine most others would fare better with traditional controls (even at the expense of portability)

Edit: Having actually seen these games you refer to, I can see they're very much part of that former category, and are very reminiscent of flash minigames I played as a kid. I would personally consider minigames as a different thing to games proper, as they're much more shallow experiences, so maybe that is what you're running into with people saying they're "not real games"

Because we're becoming increasingly like the US, where half of the country (or at least those who actually turn out to vote) are hellbent on voting for a party that doesn't give a single shit about their needs, just as long as they drivel out some racist shit now and again.

As @breadsmasher said, “Torys fucking the country? Better vote for them again!”

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

Exactly. The government isn't your friend. To your government you're a cog in the machine and nothing more - misbehave and they'll rip you out and replace you with another

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

Am I full of shit for putting down GCHQ, or for copy-pasting their address and not realising they'd added a second "Cheltenham" to it for no reason?

@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

Who could've known he'd end up doing the exact opposite of what he said by desperately trying to cling to power, even going so far as to try to coup the government

Th4tGuyII,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

While I'm not bothered by this in particular, like other people have said, it feels like the top of a very slippery slope that I would be bothered by

Kyle Hill has done so much good in combating the absolute minefield of fearmongering and misinformation surrounding Nuclear power.

As long as you play by the rules, it's incredibly safe. It's when you start taking shortcuts and start fucking around that you find out... and there are plenty of things more likely to kill you than nuclear.

Why didn't you just say you don't have an Insta account, and just mention that you're just quite a private person (don't need to go too heavy into that on a first date)?
There are some people who care way too much about it, but I feel like most people would be more on guard because of the weird explanation for having one that barely exists than the lack of one at all.

Makes me wonder how old OP is?
