The r/blind mods said RedReader stopped working for them what a total clusterfuck to have the key accessible app not work while others are.

I thought access would essentially be the same from the app's perspective, just the app builders would start getting MASSIVE bills in the mail? And they were shutting it down preemptively to avoid this.

To some degree it's hard to be sympathetic, because the people complaining about this are seriously lacking in sympathy themselves. They just wanted to see the content that those users produced for them, they didn't care about the difficulties or preferences of the users themselves. So when those Spez-opposed users took their ball and went home the Spez-friendly people got angry at them for taking their comments away with them rather than at Spez for having driven them to that in the first place.

I dare say you'll find that reddit has ruined reddit for a portion of the users. Protesting is important to stop corporation creep and attempt protect or maintain community values

Exactly.

Most of us on the fediverse can sympathize with the idea that "its really frustrating not being able to use Reddit as a reliable spurce for obscure knowledge."

The difference is that we feel "its really frustrating that I can't rely on Reddit, because even if the answer is there I can't in good conscience support spez." Instead of "all the answers are gone because of these stipid protests."

    While I think you are right and there are surely factors worth investigating, I cannot shake the feeling that 'money for ads' is a really big one.

    To the point: I cannot htelp but notice that the bigger services place emphasis on you presenting, ourself, while small decentralized ones place more import on anonimity. I think there's a part in all or most people that wants to present themselves and be lauded among peers. This is to me why platforms with photo capability like fb and insta took off. Also reddit was trying to gravitate more and more towards this with following profiles and bla

    I think it's funny that in response to this people are STILL insisting that it's easy to find new mods. TIHI, interestingasfuck, and shittylifeprotips have been closed for over a week because they have no mods. Before TIHI mods got banned, they offered multiple users complaining the option to take over moderating the sub and they said no.

    How does any of this point to it being easy to replace mods? Delusional

    Reddit: This sub is unmoderated, so it's now banned so nobody can see it

    So... Reddit just reclosed the sub they said MUST be open.

    Sound logic. Real class act.
