Hahaha, expensive expandable expendables!

But yeah, I meant expensive

Zeth0s,

You are expansive guys…

Zeth0s,

I drive automatic in Europe. Simply it is illegal to have a mobile in your hand while driving. Fees are very high, and the license is suspended minimum 2 weeks

Zeth0s,

They are often on purpose, as political decision. So that it is easier to push for privatization

Zeth0s,

Steam deck is the best option for cost/value

Zeth0s,

Thanks, now we are two who cannot stop thinking about it

Zeth0s,

Good luck, stay strong!!

Zeth0s, (edited )

I do workshops and professional courses only nowadays without any final test. I cannot stand the whole exams, assignments thing anymore. I did too much of them and I am old enough that I am a peer to professors. And I used to teach at university…

I like to learn, I don’t have time to waste in all the evaluation/marking BS.

Red flag for me: if a partner judges hobbies based on some arbitrary definition of “creativity”. It is usually red flag for snobby partners.

Gardening or gaming are as good as painting

is making the watching experience worse on and Microsoft Edge.

I didn't believe it the first time I heard abt it, since it sounded more like a conspiracy theory than a actual thing, but it's true. Google does add 5s timeout specifically to Firefox and Edge users when they try to watch a video on YT. If you want to know more about it, Mental Outlaw make a very good video abt it (Link: https://youtu.be/v4gXhmzQztE ). I think Google did this, to get people moving to Chrome since the majority will think this is a browser issue, nobody would expect YouTube to purposely doing this. In the attached Screenshot you can see that YouTube checks the user agent of browsers to see if it's Edge, Firefox or not. You can bypass this by changing your User agent to chrome.

Edit: Due a lot of people saying a lot of different things abt it, I want to say that I'm not 100% sure abt how exactly this works, there is a inbuild delay by Google, but who is actually affected, there are a lot of different opinions abt it. I wasn't able to verify this myself in LibreWolf, but this could be the case due my intensive hardening I did and this is just a result of what I found in the code and what Mental Outlaw and others shared across social media, if you got different or additional infos abt this feel free to comment and I suggest everyone ti also check the comment section.

Zeth0s,

Thanks for the explanation!

Is that from Google? I was expecting much better code given the average engineer salary. That code looks pretty ugly.

AI won’t do psychology redundant. Might allow for an easier and broader access to low level psychological first support.

What is more likely to make psychological consultants a risky investment is the economic crisis. People are already prioritizing food over psychological therapy. Psychological therapy unfortunately is nowadays a “luxury item”.

Zeth0s, (edited )

Not saying an LLM should substitute a professional psychological consultant, but that someone is clearly wrong and doesn’t understand current AI. Just FYI

Zeth0s,

And statistical mechanics is a topic that unironically open the mind on what is reality and life.

Boltzmann was one of the greatest mind ever lived

Zeth0s,

Powershell one liners are uglier than the worst winner of Obfuscated Perl Contest. Super cringe…

Zeth0s,

They set zscaler so that if I don’t access an internal service for an unknown number of months, it means I don’t need it “for my daily work”, so they block it. If I want to access it again I need to open a ticket. There is no way to know what they closed and when they’ll close something.

In 1 months since this policy is active, I already have opened tickets to access test databases, k8s control plane, quality control dashboards, tableau server…

I really cannot comment how wrong it is.

Zeth0s,

I don’t put wsj as reputable. I meant that even a journal considered reputable as wsj has been found publishing fake news in the past. That’s why I say that I am pro filtering all Murdoch’s media

Edit. I added an adjective in the original comment to make it clearer

Zeth0s, (edited )

The real challenge is “how do users can judge what is a fake news?”. In a similar situation it is an extremely difficult task even for newspapers with journalists on the field. See what’s happening with the blame-shifting on the bombing of Gaza’s hospital.

Even guardian and bbc have trouble understanding where is the truth.

A solution could be filtering the sources (for instance, no unknown blogs, or the sun and fox News, only reputable sources such as guardian and bbc). But important real news might be missed in this case, that are direct testimony of journalists on the field. And supposedly reputable sources such as wsj or similar are also known to have shared fake news, particularly when it comes to this conflict. And also reputable sources are biases.

It is an extremely difficult topic. No one has a definitive answer unfortunately.

I would be in favor of filtering at least the widely known sources of fake news (shady blogs, all Murdock’s media and so on)

Edit. An adjective to clarify

Zeth0s,

Best barbie is barbie girl by aqua. Everything else is forgettable

Thanks, so I don’t have to be that “actually” guy mentioning that 99% of Italians have never seen pepperonis in their life. You saved me

Zeth0s, (edited )

No, its taste isn’t something that Italians would appreciate. It tastes like a cheap mix of a cheap German frankfurter and cheap calabrese 'nduja. It’s almost impossible to find it in Italy.

I have never seen it in my life in Italy

Zeth0s,

I blocked meme, shitposting and 196.

All is nicer now.

I liked some of the memes but they were too many

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...

Zeth0s,

All lacks a creative filtering to balance meme and proper content. Those are the infamous “algorithm” people are so afraid about. I don’t believe we’ll ever see them here, because the platform was built to “protest” against those smart sorting and filtering. As the algorithm doesn’t do it for you, you have to manually do the work selecting and subscribing relevant communities. And check home feed

Zeth0s,

Microsoft currently lack the internal know how on AI. It is behind. They are the best understanding the average user/company needs, but they currently depend on openai. Either the buy openai (risking to destroy it because Microsoft is relatively bad at real research and cutting edge engineering) or they need to invest a lot more than Google.

If you read the memo, the 3rd player is meta. Microsoft is not even considered.

Microsoft will for sure make more money than anyone else, because that’s their job, making more money than anyone. They are a bad tech company, but a great money printer company

Zeth0s,

If you read the memo they talk about meta as possible benefiter of open source advances
