What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

alansuspect,

Agreed. Studios used to make loads of fun cheap films, now everything has to be a blockbuster CGI-fest.

I saw another comment saying it was a trend and temporary; that may be true but it has definitely ruined cinema for too long already.

alansuspect,

Yep, when I’m looking for sci-fi I don’t want elves or whatever. The only pointy ears belong to Mr Spock.

alansuspect,

😲

alansuspect,

I haven’t watched Lower Decks yet, the SNW cross-over episode was fun but I found the characters from LD a bit annoying. SNW is great though, it’s like classic trek with higher production values.

I really tried with Discovery but stopped around season 2 or 3 (around the time they took it off Netflix), it seemed to struggle with itself a lot. Maybe I need to give it another try, I like the idea of the jump to the future.

Picard, it was cosy to be back with the old characters but the writing was pretty poor.

alansuspect,

Does having a lot of extensions running slow performance?

alansuspect,

Thought it might. Have horrible images of internet explorer with a million buttons and fields crammed in everywhere.

alansuspect,

What does it say when you’re not synced? I keep mine on airplane mode but haven’t had anything like that.

Time to ditch #duckduckgo (lemmy.world)

In the last couple of months I have noticed an increasing trend of supplying me search results that are completely unrelated to the current query and tie back to my location or previous searches. I can say this with a high degree of certainty this is without a doubt beyond the 100th instance this has happened....

alansuspect,

Yeah I hate that. Now all results have to be opened in new tabs just in case.

alansuspect,

If you’re not US-based you need a VPN though, for some reason the rest of the world isn’t allowed it.

alansuspect,

I looked it up. No, but Arjun is his dad!

CHROME (google) is planing to implement DRM (kinda) into their browser (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

looks like rendering adblockers extensions obsolete with manifest-v3 was not enough so now they try to implement DRM into the browser giving the ability to any website to refuse traffic to you if you don’t run a complaint browser ( cough…firefox )...

alansuspect,

I really want to push the What’s Cool! button

alansuspect,

I haven’t heard of this before, but why is a reader a threat to a company? What’s the issue?

alansuspect,

Thanks! I keep seeing YT alternatives but nothing for Android TV, seems like an obvious platform.

alansuspect,

Things had to get bad in ST before it became a socialist utopia though.

alansuspect,

It changes? Haven’t watched it since the early 00s, I’m on a rewatch now (nearing the end of S3) so I’m intrigued.

alansuspect, (edited )

Reminds me of the time I was once in a novelty ukulele band.

alansuspect,

I love that anything I read with his face next to it I hear clearly in his voice.
