  • Swapfile instead of partition so I don’t risk losing my data if I don’t have enough memory (haven’t checked out ZRAM yet) Welp that changed quickly, ZRAM looks insane
  • GRUB as bootloader, also a separate install for every distro, kinda just out of fear that I’ll break it somehow

I currently use a ZTE Blade V Smart/ZTE 2050, which cost me 150€, pretty cheap, but still very usable (bought it a few years ago so that exact model isn’t worth it anymore, I had generally not absolutely terrible experience with ZTE phones before, tho). I also have a newer phone that I don’t use for no reason, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 11, which cost me 200€.

My current solution to prevent getting a virus is to:

  1. Go to archlinux.org
  2. Download the ISO and follow the install instructions
  3. Check suspicious-looking files on virustotal

Takes a few hours to initially set everything up, but has the added benefit of not using a shit operating system.

  • Firefox Color - Basic theming
  • LibRedirect - Redirect popular websites to privacy-respecting frontends (e.g. YouTube to Invidious, Twitter to Nitter, etc.)
  • PronounDB - Add pronoun support to Twitter, Twitch, Github, and Discord.
  • Return YouTube Dislike - The name says pretty much everything.
  • Shinigami Eyes - Mark transphobic or trans-friendly accounts as such for others with the extension to see
  • SponsorBlock for YouTube - Crowdsource sponsored segments in YouTube videos so you know what to skip past
  • uBlock Origin - AdBlock, update the block lists regularly if you want to use it with YouTube
  • User-Agent Switcher and Manager - Change what browser and OS websites think you’re using
  • Vencord Web - Browser extension for the Discord client-mod Vencord, doesn’t work rn because Discord is redoing some stuff

THAT MEANS IT’S STILL GNU!” Coolly, I reply “If windows was compiled With gcc, would that make it GNU?” I interrupt his response with “-and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. You’re pretty save without an Antivirus on Linux (we’re just 3%, not worth it for hackers), but if you need to check files, VirusTotal is your friend.
