Privacy Concerns on Lemmy: A Call for More User Control (github.com)

I’ve been grappling with a concern that I believe many of us share: the lack of privacy controls on Lemmy. As it stands, our profiles are public, and all our posts and comments are visible to anyone who cares to look. I don’t even care about privacy all that much, but this level of transparency feels to me akin to sharing my...

blackbrook,

The way you use caution saying something in a public place that you don’t want everyone to hear is by keeping your voice down so that only certain people can hear it. Without privacy settings there is no equivalent to that.

blackbrook,

Um, would you put on these white gloves and talk in a high voice?

blackbrook,

But wouldn’t they be, like, “yum, fertilizer!”?

blackbrook,

Plants: “Eat more phosphorus and potassium!”

blackbrook,

It’s not the size of your arboretum…

blackbrook,

They can get some idea from the bones of muscle attachment points and how strong of a muscle would have been attached.

blackbrook,

The byline directly under the title says they could be the oldest painted sculpture found. Of course some shameless scumbag editor turns that into a title about “earliest art”.

I use Brave to test whether my websites work on Chromium browsers, but their scummy actions lately make me want to find a new Chromium browser to test with. What's the best Chromium based browser?

I already use Firefox for browsing normally, but I have to test on a Chromium based browser too. One soft requirement is that it should be installable with Flatpak on Linux.

blackbrook,

Even ones that aren’t free often have a get in free day once a week or once a month.

blackbrook,

No one expects you to have a necropolis in your bat utility belt.

blackbrook,

So if we bring Spanish and Italian cars together, do they make more cars?

blackbrook,

The problem is that “do you mind if” is really just an indirect way of saying “may I.” People often tend to reply to the actual meaning rather than the literal meaning.

blackbrook,

So does that mean you can’t tell them apart in writing? Or in writing would that “ne particle” you mention be there?

blackbrook,

Wait, a case where English is more logical? There must be some mistake!

blackbrook,

A driveway is where you drive to get the residence, vs the walkway. Parkways are landscaped with park-like greenery .

blackbrook,

Prepositions are so arbitrary. So it’s really stupid to be so angry about “on accident”. But I can’t help it.

blackbrook,

Long USB cables can be problematic, and to avoid problems may need to be inconveniently thick and stiff. I’ve taken to using an AC extension chord for most of the length when I need to charge far from an outlet.

blackbrook,

It’s like an internet poop knife.

blackbrook,

Flaws I didn’t pay for piss me off a lot less.

blackbrook,

Did you ever find out what was up with the 18s? That´s some twilight zone shit!

blackbrook,

I don't know what your families nationality is, but this is very common in some countries (not for memorial day, specifically, but picnicking in the cemetery on a holiday).
