blunderworld, to asklemmy in How are you all making it right now with grocery store prices?

I buy staples as cheaply as I can, and most other things I only buy on sale. Plan my cooking for the week around that.

I have no sympathy for anyone naïve enough to agree to this.

Others might just call it being pedantic.

I don’t disagree with that in theory, but like you pointed out… Who’s going to enforce it in practice? Shouldn’t have to be me, or anyone else who doesn’t work for public transit.

Obviously there’s a point where I’d say something if a person was being truly inappropriate, but I’m not risking my neck over music on a bus.

blunderworld, (edited ) to memes in Your mix tape isn't fire, it's smouldering at best

Nope, not worth it. I’ve stopped trying to convince others to be considerate in public. They’ll either ignore you or blow up and get aggressive. I’d rather just try to ignore them myself and move on with my life.

And at the end of the day, I’m also not some authority figure like their mom or dad; I’m nobody to them. As much as I may not always like it, strangers don’t owe me anything, including their consideration.

blunderworld, to asklemmy in What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

I wouldn’t be the best person to guide someone through it, unfortunately. But you can find a list of add-ons here, and there are almost certainly some quality guides by smarter folks than I to get you started.

Just in case you were being serious about the legality concern though, this may not be something you want to do.

    And steal anything you can.

On that note, when you’re buying groceries at self-checkout, it’s perfectly acceptable to take the ‘oops, all bananas’ strategy.

Fuck exploitative grocery store pricing; food security should be a human right.

blunderworld, to asklemmy in What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

Not a hack necessarily, but worth repeating; if you can’t afford to pay it off right away, don’t put purchases on your credit card. Don’t make the same mistakes I have in the past.

That said, if you can afford to pay it off, credit is probably a better choice than debit for most purchases. Build up your credit score and earn those reward points.

Avoid subscription services like the plague.

Great advice. You didn’t hear it from me, but Stremio is a pretty easy way to cut streaming costs if you choose to install certain add-ons…

Look at Mr. Bigshot over here, able to afford a car. The rest of us have to cry while we walk.

Okay sure, so what examples do you have of a successful modern revolution?

Bonus points if you can name one where the winners didn’t just immediately change the rules and continue fucking over the little guy.

Another bonus point if you can name an example where a revolution didn’t result in disproportionate civilian deaths relative to the ‘bad guys’.

Then again, maybe you’re one of those ‘the end justifies the means’ kind of guys, who fantasizes about saving the rest of us by way of firing squad. If that’s the case, I’ll expect you to be on the front line to fight the government funded military force that shows up.

Or maybe, just maybe you’re another lame ass tankie who talks a big game, but would piss their pants if someone so much as gave you a dirty look IRL.
