doingless,

I have an early morning meeting but after that all bets are off

doingless,

I topped my school’s record score on those tests. I haven’t been able to afford to go to the dentist in more than 20 years. I wish they would have focused on making our society sustainable instead.

doingless,

When Germans start feeling power, the world buys more weapons and ammunition.

doingless,

You thought you weren’t going to pay for that. But you’re gonna pay. You’re gonna pay with your ass.

doingless,

Eh, the police fish would just keep all the good armed fish out of the area.

doingless,

There’s a lawyer I like to watch on YouTube but once he advocated jif pronunciation and I’ve barely watched him since then. If he apologized I might change my opinion. What’s even worse is that he’s obsessed with proper pronunciation. I think he was just trying to create drama to drive interactions but for me it backfired.

doingless,

At least in the US there is no expectation of privacy in public.

doingless,

I agree. Honestly I’d be cool with instituting privacy laws if businesses and government had to follow them too.

doingless,

Says the continent that can’t go more than a few generations without degenerating into authoritarian states and widespread war.

doingless,

The degradation of American freedoms and the abuse of our election system is definitely a both sides, where many things aren’t. Neither party wants to lose power by opening up ranked choice or modern election systems and both parties prefer the power of the state over the power of the people.

doingless,

The US hasn’t had a domestic war since the civil war. How many wars has Europe had domestically since then? Hmmm.

US citizens are powerless to the machine that was built generations ago. We vote between corporate funded warhawks or more liberal corporate funded warhawks. Personally I like the idea of not helping Europe much in future wars, we have more than enough problems of our own. But as much as Europeans hate America for their military prowess, I hate us for it too because we’re all paying for it in human suffering.

We’re policing the world and neglecting our people and it isn’t sustainable. If you need to fight for freedom, start your own military dominance. But fuck war. Americans mostly just want to live peaceful lives but bring a land war here and it’ll get lit.

doingless,

That’s a solid no for me and most people. I’m working on getting my office above 50% Linux but I’ll probably never get to 100%.

doingless,

Your mom taught me way more than he did though.

doingless,

Yeah probably 17th century - confirmed as early as 1703 but expected to have existed earlier. So I was definitely wrong. But how do we know it wasn’t invented thousands of years earlier and forgotten? But yeah, not in Jesus’ time.

doingless,

Larger boats had wheels to control their rudders though. It’s a historically valid expression.

doingless,

I’m already starting to migrate my small office. Two PCs done, a handful of others to go. I have probably three that I’ll run Windows 11 for software compatibility, and another three Mac’s for different software.

Who remembers “Windows 10 will be our last operating system’?” I remember. Fuck Microsoft. Fuck Macs too though.

doingless,

You need a way more chill approach bro. You can fuck up until May and still make this your year. Keep up the hope, and keep up whatever you want!

doingless,

I feel like “The thin crust line” would work better than “The thin bread crust”.

doingless,

The Cincinnati streetcar cost almost exactly $150m and it serves like 0.5% of the metro population. It runs a 3.6 mile loop, that’s just over a 1.5 mile walk from one end to the other. I can walk it in 20 minutes.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with the sentiment of the post. We need to invest in public transit. Where I live there are zero non-car options. But don’t pretend you’re building comprehensive public transit for $150m.

doingless,

Okay you’re not wrong about most people. I saw a post in a couch to 5k thread recently about getting to running 14 minute miles. I can walk 13 minute miles. But the I-275 loop that circles Cincinnati is almost 90 miles around. The streetcar covering less than two miles of the city is still not helping the common person.

doingless,

I’ve seen Direct D shine this back at cops when they point their flashlights at his cameras. They aren’t supposed to do it, it’s called prior restraint. This flashlight is the perfect response.

doingless, (edited )

I’m there all the time, I live close to the Eastgate one. The original location is better but you can’t beat JJ’s!

Edit: didn’t mean for this to be a Jungle Jim’s ad, it’s just a shitpost. Didn’t expect Lemmy to be familiar with a store with two locations, both in Cincinnati, OH (technically neither are). Hey cannabis will be legal in a week!
