Yes. Most modern phones are dual-sim. New Google Pixels, new iPhones, All Xiaomis afaik.

You can give them phone number A and then completely disable that sim out of work hours.

Edit: also you can have “virtual” phone numbers that you just use inside an app on your phone, but they don’t do as much as a normal mobile number so I personally wouldn’t take my chances.

imkali,

Depends where you live. MoreMins lets you buy a virtual phone number for about €4/mo if I remember right, which is wayy cheaper than anything physical you can get anything here in Australia.

Is there a way to get call functionality in whatsapp in Linux

I have been finding a way to get video/audio call working on Linux for some time. however whatsapp doesn’t have an “official” client for Linux so I am kinda stuck in the web version of whatsapp but the web version doesn’t have calling functionality which is bummer since all of my friends uses whatsapp and I want to be...

WayDroid with WhatsApp installed seems most sensible to me, assuming WhatsApp lets you use multiple android devices on one account.

Edit: This doesn’t work.

imkali,

I’m there right now from Australia, which is often considered one of the most cashless societies and yeah, it’s really a shock.

To be honest I kind of like it, and the way they manage it.

Google pulls Binance, other global crypto apps from India store

FIU, an Indian government agency that scrutinizes financial transactions, late last month issued show cause notices to nine crypto firms and alleged that they weren’t compliant with India’s anti-money laundering rules. Apple pulled the apps earlier this week and various telecom networks and internet service providers began blocking the URLs of the crypto exchange websites Thursday evening.

imkali,

“Why should I care about their privacy policy?” If Reddit doesn’t store this info then they can’t give it to the film studios.

How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

I remember when it was just Hulu for $5 and Netflix for $8. Saved $50 a month from cable. Now it seems we spend more. I have four. Max, Peacock, Paramount and Hulu. Prime doesn’t count because it sucks balls. (Only paying Netflix when next Stranger Things and Squid Game is released). Curious to see what the average...

imkali,

Netflix.

Cancelled Disney+ when it nearly doubled in price, as we’d only bought it because it was only A$8/mo anyway. Also cancelled Kayo when they tripled the price over about a year without informing us that well.

imkali,

Good for you, but that doesn’t answer OPs question.

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

imkali,

They have changed the way they gather results since they first launched.

imkali,

I believe youre talking about MKDEV, but someone else in this thread said they quit earlier this year :/

imkali,

Try slavart dot gamesdrive dot net (or use their server on divolt.xyz)

Their website lets you search for songs and download them, or their Divolt for using a bot that lets you type $dl link-to-song and it’ll send you a download link.

Also the Divolt bot supports Spotify, Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, and if I remember correctly Apple Music links.
