My main issue with Discovery was that it never felt like Star Trek. I always called it BBC’s Trek through the Stars because to me it felt like a BBC drama set in a vaguely Trek like universe. It was a good show, just didn’t FEEL like Trek. Strange New Worlds though? Feels just like the Trek I miss

There’s nothing wrong with it if you like it. At work, our servers are windows and I hate them. IN my home lab, I have a couple of guinea pig windows servers to play with and my actual home stack run on various flavors of linux - mainly ubuntu and centos. My gaming rig is windows because i just want to play the game, not play learn how to make the game run. And my workstation that I sit in front of and work at every day is a Mac because at work my job is to fix other people’s shit, and I don’t want to have to fix my own workstation in the middle of a client’s fire like my old windows workstation did to me many a time. I also don’t want to have to learn weird ways to do basic tasks when I’m on the clock like I do with my linux laptop. Every OS has a way that is shines, and if your use case aligns don’t let anybody make you feel bad about it.

I ran an Apple TV in the living room for a long time to access my Plex server and whatever subscription my wife has this month. As time went on it got more and more glitchy until it came to the point where I had to power cycle the thing every few days. Replaced it with a cheap fire stick, annoyed the crap out of me. Replaced that with a cheap Roku, it was only slightly better than the shitty firestick.

My wife got me the NVIDIA shield pro for Christmas this year, and I picked up the p2920 controller for it. My god this thing is awesome - not only is it the best tv box I’ve ever used, I can use moonlight to play games on my rig or GeForce now to stream games. I highly recommend this thing

Electricity likes the path of least resistance to ground. If you are only touching with one hand, most likely the current well run down that side of your body to ground more or less. If both hands are touching it makes it more likely for the current to cross your heart which greatly increases the risk of death

What's a proper response to another dog attempting to mount your dog multiple times and the owner really not doing anything about it?

The owner kind of makes a weak attempt to seem like they’re trying, but if I weren’t there, they wouldn’t intervene at all. I’m asking because I want to make sure that I don’t over react next time.

I have young kids and I feel like I’ve pretty much become isolated from my friends. The ones that have kids live out of state. My best friends don’t have kids so they usually come to me, but they also have their own lives so I don’t want to bother them. And I can’t really do my hobbies. I knew it would be hard with young...

I am a cripple who married a woman who claimed she didn’t want kids, and believed in abortion, until we got married and she missed her birth control and got pregnant, then explained how what she had said when we were dating wasn’t true and while she didn’t want kids and that she believes that other folks can have abortions, she can not herself. Her body her choice you know

Now I’m in a body that’s not physically capable of being a dad, with a wife who doesn’t want to be a mom, but also didn’t want to make a hard decision. One child passed early on and the other has a horrible genetic disease that we fight every day

I feel like I’ve completely lost all control of my life. I have no energy for anything I used to enjoy, nor time or money to do anything but work and take care of the family

Every day I get closer to shooting myself and I don’t see a way out

Order folks are in a similar place, but I at least don’t have a good answer. My answer is a bullet and that’s a really shitty one. I just don’t see any way out and I’m so very tired

If the doctor needs an mri and your insurance won’t cover the mri $3k isn’t far off. I’ve been in that position before. Had to give the radiology folks $500 down payment and then let them send the rest to collections to get an mri so my doctor could ultimately not to jack shit to help me, but her still charged me too. Fuck America.

Ok spoilers - you know how you have to use the scanner to find the distortions to find the temple to get the star born powers? The distortions hardly ever worked for me. I thought I was retarded for a while but then I watched a bunch of videos and realized that it’s broken for me. Turns out if you explored the planet with the temple before you got the quest to find the temple, you won’t get the distortions.

In the kind of guy that does like, all the side quests in a Bethesda game before I look at the main quest. So by the time I got around to doing the main quest, I had been to literally every planet, had outposts everywhere, and wouldn’t get the distortions. I used console commands to get past the quest for the first temple because that’s a common glitch and the fix is all over the internet.

But I ran into the same issue with the second temple. I tcl’ed my ass into the sky and found it with my eyeballs. 3rd temple, still nothing. At this point I got irritated and found a mod that makes it so when you have the find distortions quest active and you get out of your ship it automatically completes that objective and gives you the temple map marker. Fucking lifesaver of a mod.

I’ve run into other glitches, but they were all pretty minor. This one drove me nuts. There was one moon where it worked correctly because I hadn’t been there before. Like the only place in the whole game I hadn’t gone before starting the main storyline. So it seems like if you want to avoid this, do the storyline first

Been seeing a lot of negative press for the game but I’m enjoying it so I haven’t looked at those reviews very much. I came in expecting Skyrim in space and I got what I expected and am enjoying the crap out of it. Now, I’ve run into several game breaking bugs, but found mods to fix all of them
