I discovered today that my most played game on Steam is Astronner with about 500 hours, and my second most played is Surviving Mars with about 500 hours.
There was a server I inherited from colleagues who resigned, mostly static HTML serving. I would occasionally do a apt update && apt ugrade to keep nginx and so updated and installed certbot because IT told me that this static HTML site should be served via HTTPS, fair enough.
Then I went on parental leave and someone blocked all outgoing internet access from the server. Now certbot can’t renew the certificate and I can’t run apt. Then I got a ticket to update nginx and they told me to use SSH to copy the files needed.
I did donate first to Mozilla but switched to Thunderbird because I think they’re doing a better job. But now that I’m a stay at home dad for one year I stopped because I don’t have any income and need to keep my money together while only living from savings until I’m back at work.
An extreme version of this is: What should the German health service do if someone says they are willing to donate a kidney as long as it doesn’t go to a Jew?...
It depends on when I looked last time. Mostly Hot is new enough so I didn’t see it before but also interesting and no spam. If I look very often then New. If I didn’t look for a couple of days then Active.
Back in the day, around 2005 or 2006 I did that and I had browse the internet in a text based browser for 2 days because KDE on that old machine took two days to compile.
It depends on the site, back then there were a lot of table-layouts which were quite fucked up in the text-only browser. Nowadays there are non of them which is good, but nowadays there are JavaScript only websites which don’t really work well. You can install a text only browser and try it out yourself.
I moved to Korea and every year June, July and August I’m incapable to be outside because of the humidity. On the way to the convenience shop my underwear is already sweaty....
She definitely is, meanwhile we got our first child together so there is no way back :D. I’m trying to convince her to go to Europe with me for the children’s sake, Korea is not very friendly to young people. Let’s see how it goes.
With the weight, I lost a ton of weight just before I came to Korea, but since then got more than half of it back. I need to figure out how to lose it again.
I don’t think it should be done by a specific name, it should be user defined, I should be able to add the communities together which I deem that they do belong together for some reason.
I think the only reason is that they’re swamped with bug reports and more important feature requests so they didn’t have the time to implement it yet.
and probably many more. The devs are looking at the different approaches and commenting there, so you should be able to get a good picture how it’s going by reading the comments there.
I’d say if you want to have similar functionality of YouTube but without the drawback that they might disappear, and you’re ok with hosting something yourself (or pay for hosting) then I’d suggest PeerTube.
I have been doing that, the biggest problem I have is that they alter your videos if there is any copyright audio in it. In one video there was a radio running in the background on a home video from the 90ies and people were talking. YouTube muted the full audio because of a copyright claim even though it was private.
Also I have a 8 month old here in Korea (he is half German half Korean) and yeah I see what the sheer sight of him does to many people but especially elderly. I’m glad he can brighten their day by just existing in the same space. The only thing I really hate is when they try to touch him. I mean come on, I have no idea where your hands were before that I won’t let you touch even his clothes, but some even go for his face, that makes me furious.
At first this article reads like your typical anti-piracy screed. It rants about how 10x more people watched GoT illegally (confusing them with lost sales) and ends with how downloading movies can get your credit card stolen....
As long as it’s not enforced it will keep being used like that, and to be honest if you haven’t been on AskReddit you would always assume that AskLemmy is for questions about Lemmy, it has even lemmy in it’s name.
