I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....
I heard many people that are going through different diseases were able to drink those soylent ready-to-drink drinks. They have all the nutrients you need in a creamy drink. I’ve tried Jimmy Joy and Huel and really liked them.
But it’s mostly a scam. The costs don’t remotely compare to the revenue. Reviewers time is not paid, and there’s a price to both publish and access. It’s all about the prestige to publish. If you contact the author directly they’ll typically gladly send you the article for free.
The other problem is that even when I have time off, like vacations or holidays, I have a backlog of adult things to do. And Heck if my partner is going to accept that I use my PTO to game.
Not just that but whenever you hear that company xyz was hacked and their data leaked, what do you think was powering their servers? Most likely Linux. Sure, they usually have more things exposed to the internet, but users install way more apps so the attack surface is vastly bigger in home computers running Linux than servers.
Yeah, but back then everyone had multiple backup babies. Nowadays with JIT manufacturing people always have just enough babies, which saves a lot of resources, but in return safety costs increased manyfold.
Most “traditions”, including holiday traditions, food culture, etc, are incredibly recent things. But people cling to it like they are the totality of their identify.
No one is offended besides the hardcore Christians. No muslim or orthodox Christian or whatever would be mad if you wish them merry Christmas if that’s the thing where you both live. As always, it’s fake fabricated outrage.
Yes, if you like living with people. Why is it OK for cities to be plastered with ads? It’s been shown they are not necessary.
And it’s not like TV or Youtube where ads are subsidising my experience. Outdoor ads are very rarely subsidising the thing you are experiencing. Sure, maybe ads on buses and bus stops help lower bus costs. But most ads are on buildings and billboards where the city doesn’t benefit from them. And you can’t opt out from riding a bus plastered with ads that cover even the windows making you even more depressed. There’s no bus premium subscription.
This is, of course, an exaggeration of the both of them. Each has its own use case in which it performs better than the alternative. In truth, I use ubo as much as I use reader view :)
Do custom without shame! They are bullying you. These card readers with tip suggestions are getting annoyingly coming here too. One time in Berlin I went to a donut stand and the suggested tips started at 10%. I gave them 1 star on Google maps and complained. They replied that that’s just how the machine works. I know perfectly well that’s customizable…
I wonder. Lemmy is be definition much less future proof that r&ebbit. Information posted on Lemmy will not last long, as instances come and go. The price we pay for decentralisation and freedom.

Has something new come along? It’s been so long since I’ve needed to do this that I assume CCleaner has enshittified by now.

Do food delivery persons prefer cash tip?
Do you, as a person who delivers through DoorDash or UberEats or what have you, prefer to be tipped through the app or in cash?
