They purposely attacked a dog

So I’ve got some assassins that will just randomly attack me because of spoilers. Well, this time, some people came and tried to help kill the assassins, and one of them was a dog. This assassin I was fighting decided to run away from me and past another party member, taking 2 opportunity attacks in the process so they could...

What's (are) the funniest/stupidest way(s) you've broken your linux setup?

Tinkering is all fun and games, until it’s 4 am, your vision is blurry, and thinking straight becomes a non-option, or perhaps you just get overly confident, type something and press enter before considering the consequences of the command you’re about to execute… And then all you have is a kernel panic and one thought...

jws_shadotak,

Not quite catastrophic but:

I’m in the process of switching my main server over from windows to Linux

I went with Deb 12 and it all works smoothly but I don’t have enough room to back up data to change the drive formats so they’re still NTFS. I was looking at my main media HDD and thought “oh, I’ll at least delete those windows partitions and leave the main partition intact.”

I found out the hard way that NTFS partitions can’t just reclaim space like that. It shuffles all the data when you change the partition. It’s currently 23 hours into the job and it’s 33% done.

I did this to reclaim 30 MB of space on a 14 TB drive.

jws_shadotak,

Yes, I grew the existing one. Lesson learned I guess. 30.5 hours into it and it’s at 41%.

jws_shadotak,

Depends on if it’s entirely folded up or if one end is left open.

jws_shadotak,

Just made these. They’re amazing, except next time I think I’ll use about half the chocolate chips.

github.com/anderbggo/GooglePhotosMatcher

I did this a couple months ago and it worked great. Just be sure to back things up.

jws_shadotak,

It adds the metadata back to the photos instead of storing the json and photo separately

I just reread your post and I don’t think it sorts them into folders.

Danner is my go-to brand for quality boots.

I’ve been issues a lot of boots from work and the Danners are the most comfortable by far. They made it through some real shit, too.

jws_shadotak,

Oof, that’s rough.

It really depends on the job, I guess. I wore the Danner Reckonings for about 2 years straight and they were a little rough looking but still in great shape. The tip of the boot where the sole curves up the front was starting to peel. The worst I did with them was mountain climbing and some very wet environments.

Some of the dudes I worked with were sent to an area with a lot of lava rock, which absolutely shreds boots.

pastebin.com/7S6QBsSY

I tried formatting it on here but it doesn’t work.

gluetun + qBit

The compose file creates both and binds qBit to gluetun. I also have port forwarding set up through AirVPN.

jws_shadotak,

Only qbit I have other stuff in that stack as well, like sonarr and radarr, that I cut out.

The network mode setting in docker acts as a bind. The port is exposed to the host in gluetun. If gluetun throws an error and shuts down, qBit WebUI is no longer accessible.

jws_shadotak,

eh get fucked ya Linux fanboy. Go cry about which distro is best instead of putting me down for trying to help someone.

jws_shadotak,

Stop using that app and find a different one.

jws_shadotak,

I took a little ASROCK DeskMini and put a 5700G in it to serve as a media and light gaming station. My family uses it more than I do now.

You could easily do this with a pi 5 or pi variant for cheap.

jws_shadotak,

Seconding the other user’s post, it’s just storage. You can use it temporarily for the Plex server but I highly recommend offloading that task to a real computer.

A used Optiplex is usually the go-to because it’s low power and capable of doing the job. Just make sure it has enough RAM to handle the containers you wanna put on it.

Docker is a little bit of learning but you’ll get the hang of it. I found docker-compose to be much easier to learn. Portainer or Dockge can help by giving you a GUI, if that’s your preferred style (like me).

how do i efficiently attach audio to an image

hi all, ive tried using shotcut and kdenlive but the outputted file ends up being huge. i have a single image and want to put audio on top (releasing a song) but these programs end up making video files where they render the same image on each frame and the files end up being huge. what is the best way to achieve my use case of...

jws_shadotak,

Are you able to add it through the file properties menu?

jws_shadotak,

NVIDIA Shield is generally considered the best.

It can also side load other apps like ad free YouTube or custom launchers that won’t display ads on your home screen.

What's a proper response to another dog attempting to mount your dog multiple times and the owner really not doing anything about it?

The owner kind of makes a weak attempt to seem like they’re trying, but if I weren’t there, they wouldn’t intervene at all. I’m asking because I want to make sure that I don’t over react next time.

jws_shadotak,

Hold their dog’s collar and don’t let go until the owner gets the hint. Just hold their dog in place. It’s not hurting the animal but it’s also not something the owner can just ignore.

jws_shadotak,

It’s not particularly rare but the we have a spiced rum called Kilo Kai. It’s mostly sold near Chicago.

We’ve had a consistent supply from visiting family members over the last few years.

jws_shadotak,

I tried Nobara recently and had awful difficulties with it, probably because I have a NVIDIA GPU.

My GPU (3080 Ti) is compatible with the drivers it specified but it would get stuck on a blank screen.

jws_shadotak,

OpenBoard is great and supports swipe typing using a Google library.

jws_shadotak, (edited )

That’s simple mobile tools, which op was referring to as the sellouts.

jws_shadotak,

Are you able to inspect element and find the .mp4 file somehow? Try the add-on Absolute Right Click and Copy to inspect the video player.

I tried slapping it into my MeTube UI that uses yt-dlp but it doesn’t support Rooster Teeth I guess.
