metallic_z3r0,

I mean if it’s abandonware it’s ethical to reverse engineer and open source the reverse engineered platform, maybe even fork it and provide some sort of extensible framework for various plugins, or convert the kernel to a new architecture or even virtualize it. Hopefully we can also work out the bugs and the more glaring issues soon (looking at you, upright vertebrae).

metallic_z3r0,

Thanks KC Green, may the memory of your work live much longer than you do (he is very much still alive, as far as I know).

metallic_z3r0,

As I’ve gotten older, it’s not even just the worldview anymore, the body can look attractive but one look at the face and if the woman is young enough it’s an immediate turn-off.

metallic_z3r0,

This is the reason I’ve taken to carrying a small magnet with me (combined with a flashlight/blacklight/laser pointer), so I can easily pick up those little bits that get lost (my wife cross stitches too, and sometimes her needles fall into the carpet, so it’s nice to find those before our feet do).

metallic_z3r0,

Maybe Danny Phantom should be more open to the possibility of traumatized ghosts.

metallic_z3r0,

This feels like a metaphor but I’m too slow this morning to figure out the matchup.

metallic_z3r0,

If nothing matters, then you can choose what matters to you, and if I choose to care about something, then it matters because it matters to me, even if it doesn’t to other people.

metallic_z3r0,

For someone not trusting their gut, that guy sure seems super trusting that their eyes are going to be ok.

metallic_z3r0,

He had some decent political views, but his child-rearing advice wasn’t always very evidence-based.

metallic_z3r0,

We’re not just eating tons per day, we’re eating about 430-ish metric kilotons per day.

metallic_z3r0,

You can waste my time by posting here, I’ve seen many of your contributions and I greatly appreciate your efforts. I don’t usually say anything though. That other guy can fuck off.

metallic_z3r0,

I think this is the guy, though it might’ve been a flute, not an ocarina, not sure.

metallic_z3r0,

I thought photons are always moving in straight lines from their perspective, and it’s space that’s bent. Unless it’s through a medium, then they just get absorbed and re-emitted, sort of.

I mean, being trans is perfectly valid, but I think gender dysphoria itself should be classified as a mental illness so long as it brings significant pain/distress to the individual, the solution there is just gender reassignment, surgery, hormones, etc. I don’t think there should be stigma in calling it such, it needs treatment the same as anything else. People with ADHD have a mental illness and get meds, sometimes therapy, people with poor eyesight have an ocular dysfunction of some kind and get glasses or surgery or whatever, none of it should be that big a deal. The point is it can be diagnosed and treated.

I think the response to shit like “transgenderism” being a mental disease should be “well at least their/our dysphoria can be treated now, what’s your excuse?”

metallic_z3r0,

Makes sense. Insect lifespans are so short that evolution can be much faster. Primates have been around for 65 million years and only have 431 species, a life form with 1/20th the lifespan at best would have to speciate much faster than that.

metallic_z3r0,

Probably played by B-list actor van Petrol.

Thanks! Almost forgot to bring the thing.

Update: forgot the thing anyway, spouse reminded me before I left though lol

metallic_z3r0,

At the time this phrase was first referenced, around 1540-ish, a penny would’ve been worth around $3.50 USD. Goddamn Loch Ness monster, always wanting my thoughts.

The real double-slit quantum eraser they don't want you to know about! (mander.xyz)

The recent post made me fear that a lot of you are taking this “monkey looks at double-slits” meme, which was only ever supposed to be a funny monkey meme, actually seriously. Honorable mention goes to @kromem, whose 12 posts on the topic, insisting that the quantum eraser experiment (but not the delayed-choice quantum...

metallic_z3r0,

Yeah it turns out a whole bunch of English words are spelled more like a linguistic history lesson than anything approaching a useful system of phonetics. It might as well be pictographic with letters being helpful hints at this point. I wish there could be spelling reform in the anglosphere, but it’s hard enough to get people to agree within any one of the majority English-speaking countries, let alone between them.
