Vote with your wallet, they told us.

Then they got massively butthurt when we voted with our wallets.

Another promise walked back. Guess I’m not playing League of Legends anymore.

no tv app what do you mean no tv app i mean no tv app

you’ve lost them at this point unless you literally do everything for them first

(Constructively) What is your least favorite distro & why?

I’ve been distrohopping for a while now, and eventually I landed on Arch. Part of the reason I have stuck with it is I think I had a balanced introduction, since I was exposed to both praise and criticism. We often discuss our favorite distros, but I think it’s equally important to talk about the ones that didn’t quite hit...

Manjaro, because we’re here on arch to use the AUR, and that breaks Manjaro basically every time.

I’m on someone else’s Google One, so I get it for free. For now, that means I can run yt-dlp on those pesky premium-only videos, which is nice.

unpopular answer: youtube premium as bundled with a wider google subscription, aka Google One or the like

Linux Mint, 100%. Most of your configuration will have a GUI and their flagship Cinnamon desktop is made to look similar to Windows 7.

"Combokeys" instead of hotkeys. [Feature/new command suggestion]

Title. Basically, “if a street fighter gamer and a linux tryhard had a baby” where a combination of keys is issued to run a command/script rather than a single or a simultaneous stroke of two or more. i.e left, down, left, right arrow keys, R_CTRL to run Firefox. Right, right, Up, right arrow keys, delete to power off the...

Now imagine if the DVD/Blu-Ray didn’t have any of that bullshit on it, and it just went to a menu, and just played when u clicked play.

No, they forbid you sharing their TORRENTS, not their CONTENT.

It would also cause REAL competition as video platforms now have to fight to be the best to use and the best value.

Here’s the conservative angle, at least in my view: “We’ve always had the right to repair our possessions before, and we will conserve that right for future generations.”

Then again, what I consider conservative has never actually matched up with the political party, which is a big part of why I am no longer right wing.

I did one of those once, but jesus christ never again. The kinds of people that would join a piracy community on discord…no thianks.

Advantages to selfhosting a Lemmy instance?

So, as any self-respecting datahoarder and selfhoster, I have my server rack populated with a few machines, churning along as they tend to my hobby-related projects. Now that I’ve started using Lemmy I’m toying with the idea of selfhosting an instance, as I have both the hardware, bandwidth, and skillset for it....

I’ve unfollowed /c/memes for exactly this reason. Not that I don’t like them, but I wanna see “literally anything else”

Then don’t subscribe to that 10 person sub?

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...

make early final fantasy fashion more normal

What would Twitter look like with an absolute number of Likes in the system?

What would Twitter look like, if Elon flushed all likes, throws x Likes in the sytem and gave it a go? Every Like has to taken from the system and there are positive and negative points just like here or Reddit. If you don’t have Likes anymore you have to dislike something else you liked in the past. It would be entertaining...
