“I want to say, in all seriousness, that a great deal of harm is being done in the modern world by belief in the virtuousness of work, and that the road to happiness and prosperity lies in an organised diminution of work.” - Bertrand Russell, In Praise of Idleness

Communism and your concept of utopia are synonymous. Communism and utopia are not synonymous.

praise_idleness,

I mean even in the case of USSR they had to wait for more than a decade to actually get a livable apartment, not to mention severe lack of infrastructure…

But of course, better than people just kicked out to the streets. But then again, less is not none. The housing situation definitely didn’t do USSR’s overall economic status any favor.

People at least had somewhere to go

that’s just moving the goal post, isn’t it?

praise_idleness,

No one is going to deny that making perpetual motion device is good. How are you going to do that?

Do you have source and receipts for real life communism solving housing problem? Not being better than capitalism. Solving. Being better than capitalism is kinda low bar you know. There are plenty of other things that real life capitalism does better than real life communism, hence communism failure. No one is going to show up with receipts and sources because obvious.

You show us tents as a capitalist solution. That’s not a capitalist solution. That’s the problem itself. You’re misleading.

because his logic is irrefutable if you address it with a modicum of intellectual honesty…

Can you at least try to sound less douche about things?

praise_idleness,

Yes, that’s why there is no pure capitalist country anywhere.

you cant refute Marx’s philosophy while being intellectual honest.

Why are you keep doing this? I said I don’t disagree with Marx. It’d be nice if communism can happen. Facts don’t care about your feelings either and all the shitty attemps of communism failed due to human being shitty. If you have to kill off people to keep the ideology, only to fail after about few decades, it has some reality problems.

And again, I cannot stress this enough, can you please stop sounding like a 16 year old kid who just read few paragraphs of Marx going iamverysmart about it?

praise_idleness,

Can you discuss it somewhere else please?

praise_idleness,

A communist nation that can really provide all that is as realistic as capitalistic utopia.

What are you so mad about?

praise_idleness,

Whenever their Emperor changes, the year starts with a new name(年号, which translates to name of year(s)). This time it’s 令和(reiwa). Before that it was 平成(heisei). It is very commonly used.

Wikipedia

praise_idleness,

It’s 1700663620 now.

praise_idleness,

Because fuck Amazon. /s

I’m joking but additional battery life and shutting off telemetry outweighs Wikipedia lookup, that is of course to me. I also bought with-ads version of it so permanent airplane mode keeps it away. (I know I can kinda get them removed by asking Amazon)

People can have different opinions to what is important and what is not. If someone try to censor every online forum in order to protect people from cyber crimes and financially support North Korean government even though time and time it has been proven that it doesn’t go well, fuck up all the housing crisis even more, but is the only candidate who (remotely) supports LGBTQ, I’m not voting them, which is exactly the case in my country.

There are other important aspects of people’s lives and you can’t just go around and say your priorities are wrong. You can however argue about the reasoning that led to said priorities and initial opinion, which is exactly what people are talking to you.

praise_idleness,

Aside from being cringe, this I can very much understand. It’s not that the ad itself is so bad. It’s them being data hog and making shit unreadable to the point where literally there are sprinkles of useful(or not so much) information here and there. I can understand this kind of popups. Even the cheapest VPSs are not free. Can’t really blame if there’s a continue w/o disabling.

praise_idleness,

Peertube only makes sense when you at least somewhat expect some extent of interactions with other instances. For strictly internal, one-way use, use Jellyfin or plex. If it’s just home videos or something, something like nextcloud works too.

Faking Pixel 5a

I’ve read on reddit that Google still provides unlimited photos backup if you own Pixel 5a and lower. On rooted Android you can fake that and get free backup storage, but who wants to give pictures to Google?! I was thinking if it’s possible or done by someone to create an environment on Docker by faking device info to...

praise_idleness,

You’re trying to trick Google into giving you paid service. It’s very much different to ad blocks and whatnot. This will cause you mountains of problem, if possible in the first place…

praise_idleness,

I don’t want to live in the moment of shitting :(

praise_idleness,

She wants to ride something expensive, bring her to the local mall where there’s an escalator. That shit expensive.

praise_idleness,

My first language is Korean. It’s impossible not to get a few concept of Japanese language watching anime for extended period of time. They are very similar to each other, with most of the concept more straightforward in Japanese.

I think what makes Japanese hard(especially for the westerners) is reading/writing. Most Korean people learn Hanja or, in Japanese, Kanji(they are not 100% same but almost interchangable) to some degree. This was a huge advantage for me learning Japanese since I can read/write most of the common words before I even speak the language.
