Nestlé has been patenting human milk proteins for decades. To my understanding, this prevents other companies to add such molecules to baby formula, even if somehow methods to synthesize said molecules were developed.

That is a scary notion, a malevolous intent and a gross outcome.

You know? That is not bad at all. Not bad at all. Why not? Why not the parallel universe version? Maybe they could use the chance to fix the dumpster fire the prequels were as well and perhaps even go along with Darth Jar-Jar.

I have to drive a freaking pick up truck for professional reasons and even I loathe the freaking thing.

Too long, too wide, too tall, too everything and anything for any road and I drive in country roads.

The craze for ever growing vehicles is going to extremes.

Tax and penalize these cars until it hurts.

Better yet: wake at random, feeling as if an entire night of sleep is already done. Look at the clock and only two hours have elapsed and there is still an entire night to sleep.

Nonetheless, wake up before the alarm rings, feeling fully refreshed, as if two full nights of sleep have been had.

When I get these episodes, I feel like a champ the entire day. Sadly it also makes me a bit annoying, as it makes overjoyful.

qyron, to fuck_cars in Europe’s politicians are dEsPeRaTe to tackle e-scooters, why aren’t they bothered by monster SUVs?

In Portugal, e-scooters had to be severely regulated as many gruesome and bloody accidents happened because their users entered high speed ways, heavily modified the scooters to achieve over 80km/h speeds, were left abandoned by users of rental services everywhere, invaded sidewalks and endangered pedestrians or public transports lanes.

The ever growing size of cars is a worthy cause of worry: I drive a Ford Ranger for professional reasons and the vehicle is ridiculously cumbersome, wide and clumsy for the roads I have to use. Lawmakers need to cull the auto makers arms race on bulky vehicles.

But lets not overlook that e-scooters are a very big source of traffic accidents by themselves and let this micromobility solution run amok.

Genetically modified? That’s a stretch.

Like many other cultures, bananas and apples were selectively reproduced to obtain fruits with more to eat. Corn, carrots, every single kale and cabbage, potatoes, oranges and even strawberries can go into this basket.

The wild banana has almost nothing to eat, being filled with large seeds and we can still find wild apples, by nature very tart but still edible. Every single cereal we plant and harvest today was originally nothing more than a wild grass.

But to call the work of millenia and who knows how many generations of farmers genetic modifications is a bit over the top.

GMOs are very recent introductions and normally for obtaining pest, drought or disease (more) resistant plants.

The base difference is that dogs evolved side by side with our species to develop and return emotional bonding and feedback with humans.

All other animals we managed to domesticate, at best, tolerate us or fear us. Cute little photos of cows and pigs enjoying being hugged and petted are exceptions, not norm.

I’ve been trying to understand, for years, what happened to turn dogs and cats food in asian countries (beside famines, hence desperation) but every single source I was ever able to find always gets muddled in exotheric notions of ”medicinal" use or some other folklore high tale.

For context: in Vietnam, cat meat is often served as being “little tiger”.

To the extent of my knowledge, the rest of the world never needed to wrap an animal in an exotheric tale to declare it as potential food.
