sbv, (edited )

That’s counterintuitive, do you have a source for that?

EDIT: googling around, I don’t see any obvious answers.

sbv,

Hey, thanks for the link! That sounds great!

sbv,

Not episodic. And not “the descendants of”.

If it was a heist movie, then the lead up could be in 1942 Paris - the thieves are anti-Nazi resistance and Allied spies, then, when it comes time for the theft to occur, it would switch to some third millennia setting on a space station. All the characters are the same. The Nazi general who has gathered gold from people sent to concentration camps is now the governor of the heavy helium mining operation (I dunno), played by the same actor, with a different accent, referring to the same events that happened previously. Then it’d switch to some other setting for the escape - but it would be the same characters with the same motivations/foibles/history.

sbv,

That’d be pretty cool. I like the idea of leaving notes to themselves.

sbv,

bonus points if it includes alliteration or it rhymes

sbv,

It sounds like Facebook tracks non-registered users as well, so everything you’re saying remains true for everyone who doesn’t have a pretty strong security posture.

If OP isn’t blocking third party cookies, FB scripts, and piholing unwanted requests, they might as well join the platform and get the tenuous benefits it provides.

sbv,

Google had more relevant results for me.

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

The Unity Desktop Environment an Underrated Masterpiece (unityd.org)

Why is the unity is underrated when its what i use right now with Ubuntu Unity and its actually really great experience for my 2021 HP Stream 11 Laptop and i hope you all to share your experiences using the unity de in Debain Ubuntu Arch Fedora Gentoo Opensuse Etc thanks for your Amazing community my Wonderful Friends

sbv,

That’s good! It should be usable and intuitive for everybody.

sbv,

Are those storage measures being used at scale? IIRC there’s large-scale battery storage in Australia, but I don’t know what is being done elsewhere.

sbv,

Smart watch.

I appreciate being able to get a (mostly) silent notification for messages, and setting silent alarms.

I charge it weekly. Any more often than that and I’d stop using it.

sbv,

“did anyone bring a fire extinguisher?”

sbv,

Something with a spacious keyboard would be great.

sbv,

I use ones from recipe books. I like that the recipe is in a book because

  1. The screen doesn’t turn off when I’m cooking.
  2. The recipe usually fits on a page, so I don’t need to touch it after I start.
  3. I can scribble my modifications on it with a pencil.
  4. I mark the good ones with torn up bits of paper sticking out.
  5. I like having a bunch of recipe books around. Most of them were gifts, so cooking from them reminds me of who I got them from.

I’ve tried bookmarks to websites, copying recipes to Google Docs/Keep. It feels like work. Worse, when I’m cooking, I need a way to keep my phone/tablet screen on. I’m usually listening to a podcast or using a timer on my phone, so then I need to switch apps, etc.

sbv,

I didn’t see Star Wars until I was in my twenties. It isn’t a great set of movies. A lot of people really like it. And now power to them! But it’s not a great conversational gambit.

sbv,

They’re awesome. I was kind of disappointed when our old car died and I updated to a vehicle with a fob.

sbv,

sometimes the dialogue is kind of boring and I just want to read and hit “next line”

Yup. Cut scenes are boring. Most dialogue is pretty meh. Just let me get past it so I can do stuff again.

sbv,

Hmmm. Wooden toothpicks would make me look like some 1950s gumshoe…

sbv,

It needs to be rigid enough that the metal portafilter doesn’t destroy it, and mold proof so it can last a day or two between being emptied.

There’s a bunch here.

sbv,

That’s a very succinct explanation!

crimedad, to dadsplain

Ripped my shorts at the playground.

Yep

@dadsplain

sbv,

Sounds like you’re doing it right.
