its a terrible movie but its a fucking amazing film.

if you ever watch it again, look at its edits and specifically the gore. You never actually see Leatherface inflicting any damage on someone. It’s always a trick of the mind that you see the violence but it never actually happens on the screen.

I agree its kinda lame but it is actually an amazing creation.

My impression of the movie is that half is the “reality” happening while the other half is a sexual fantasy while she is masturbating. When she can’t get off the nightmare of her reality crumbles and she can’t go on. Its a movie that needs to be seen through a mind fog, like most David Lynch movies. Once you allow him to dictate the rules of how the movie is going to presented to you, then you see the beautiful things that he creates with film.

Him as Miller is so fucking good in The Expanse series. In my mind, his face was always Miller when I was reading the series. He is for sure underrated.

The slowness is meant to represent the distance they are traveling, in both time and space. This was also made in 1968, the moon landing was in 1969. Compare Planet of the Apes to 2001 for a good comparison of what special effects were like in the same year.

The top block busters of that year www.imdb.com/list/ls068940380/

Most of them are long winded, it was the style of the time.

If you think of the movie as 3 parts. One, pre-man discovers tools (because the monolith changes one tribe). Two, Man must overcome the tools it has created. Three, man is absorbed by the aliens tool to become next-man.

Anyways, I understand why someone might not like it but it is one of my all time favorite movies and its worth watching later in your life as you might get different impressions on it if you are young now

I have been to hundreds of thrift stores across the country. Rarely are any two the same. Rarely are they the same store if you visit it months later. And some are expensive but if they are, they usually have better stuff. Visit the stores in the areas that are generally poor and you will still find lots of hidden jems at deep discounts to the retail price. So much so that it’s always worth the extended trip outside of your neighborhood.

learn the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and make sure your money has a most bang for the buck in regards to shelter / food / safety

The library has all your entertainment if but it does require a change of mindset

stay away from anything that only has one type of use, find things that can be used for multiple uses and try and buy it used if possible

Thrift stores sell clothing for pennies on the dollar. You can put together a professional wardrobe for less then a new pair of Levis

Don’t worry though, this won’t take effect until 2032ish

You can follow the wiki guide and really have a solid systems that is just yours. That will take some time and can be a little frustrating.

Or use the installer script they have included for a year or more now and get to a working desktop in 20-30 minutes.

But if you feel the need to trim down the scripted version, you can make it just a strong as the step-by-step install in a few hours.

I have used the same step-by-step based on the wiki install since 2016, on my daily driver laptop

I remember having a conversation with a coworker who was getting into Linux when Kali was a big deal for script kiddies. He told me he installed it and I was like “dude you want it to be a read only OS, don’t install it. Just boot to it from a CD or USB.” We went back and forth on that for weeks until I just gave up and labeled him an idiot in my mind.
