You think people built entire highways just because they wanted the most inefficient and expensive way to screw over some deer? No fucking shit all this infrastructure is for driving.
dumb watch. I really just need a quick glance at the time and date mostly when I can’t (or don’t want to) whip my phone out.
No batteries, kinetic powered, waterproof, cheap.
Some smartwatches have features I might be interested in (offline GPS tracking) but not at the price I’m willing to pay. Still waiting for prices to drop more.
And aside from Garmins and other high end dedicated expedition/marathon watches, everything else’s battery life just seems like crap. Like if I ever leave home for a single night I’ll have to pack a charger? That’s terrible.
A Samsung slider. I remember watching the Matrix the first time, and when that phone popped open to reveal the keypad it was mind-blowing. Getting a slider phone a few years later was so satisfying.
cyberpunk is actually great for that. Sometimes if I don’t wanna do anything in particular I’ll just… fight the police, lol. Or just randomly do some open world stuff, like drive around the badlands. Then if I’m feeling like doing something more “meaningful” I’ll jump into an actual story quest
Are you working 80+ hours a week or something? If you have zero free time outside of work, I guess there’s no room in your life to find any kind of meaning or purpose outside your job. Then you’re left trying to find meaning in a shit job.
Trying to find a job that is “meaningful” that also pays the bills are few and far between. Most meaningful things in life don’t pay well or at all, or have very few job openings, or are extremely unstable (self employment or startups). Otherwise you’re left with your life “purpose” in a corporation, which only means “make more money”, which is pretty shallow at best.
Work-life balance is important, and I think keeping work and life separate is a huge part of that. Forcibly mixing the two only causes more stress, either from one adding to the other, or from severely limiting your job prospects overall. Making your job = life severely limits both.
except even “short” support is two years, major companies like Samsung, Apple, and Google give 4+ years. The “gotta upgrade every year for security” is an excuse, not a reason.
Do you need to eat something multiple times to know how it tastes? Or do you just pay so little attention to what you eat that you can’t tell the difference between thick cut vs thin cut fries, or seasoned vs unseasoned, and so on?
Or are you just blindly saying that any place that’s smaller is inherently superior because it’s less popular? Because you clearly can’t even remember how the fast food tastes…
Free to Play games are basically a test of willpower. They use every trick in the book to get people to keep playing and spend money. FOMO via time limited events, gambling addiction via loot boxes/gacha, impatience via playtime or realtime limited resources, sunk cost via slow and difficult to earn resources/rewards. All of which can be “solved” with money.
On the other hand if you’ve got the willpower to just… ignore FOMO, ignore the gambling, and just walk away when you’ve played a little bit each day, F2P games actually offer incredible amounts of content. Over the past decade I’ve played about 5 different F2P games and never spent a single cent. Each one was pretty fun, and I just walked away when I got bored.
