I have a set of Bose QuietComfort earbuds I wear daily for workouts. I finally killed them and in the market for something new. I'm looking for higher end name-brand earbuds which would work for my exercising needs (bicycle rides, and gym workouts). ANC is necessary (but pretty common on all the top brands/TWS earbuds these days).
I was thinking about the Bose QC2 as it would be the logical upgrade, but I've heard mix reviews about them and I can't figure out if it was just a bad batch of earbuds or if it's a poorly designed product.
I guess the Sony XM4's would be a logical alternative but I don't know how comfortable they are for exercising
Edit - Android user, so apple airpods aren't an ideal option
@ike according to ernest it stems from /sbin. though one of the early instances was named karabin based on the karabine gun and thus shortened to kbin (or rather expanded from kbin).
What are some tips for dealing with solicitors (door-to-door salespeople)? Our neighborhood gets a lot of them.
We have a “No solicitors” sign hanging on the front door. Nevertheless, they knock, ring the doorbell, or worse, yell through the front window when it is open, trying to get our attention.
We have a Ring video doorbell and have enabled the automatic “Sorry, we’re not interested” announcement after 15 seconds. These pushy SOBs ignore the sign and the announcement.
When I ultimately find out they are soliciting and I ask why they ignored both the sign and the doorbell announcement, they usually say something like, “I’m not selling anything. I am just working with some people in the neighborhood…” or some such BS.
My wife and I work from home and have had to explain the window shouting to coworkers in meetings. We also have two small children who could be trying to nap at any given time. We have good reasons to not want to be disturbed at home and these assholes disregard that wish.
I will write a negative review online if I find out their name and company they are representing. Any other ways to get these people to leave us alone?
‘wait, Reddit has avatars?’ - said swathes of users who discovered Reddit added useless features to their site making reddit.com look like absolute shit compared to old.reddit
So I created a magazine (which is similar to a subreddit, correct?) - what now? How do I even find my own? They don't show anywhere in my profile nor do I see any moderator tools, etc.
@acunasdaddy you can find magazines by searching from https://kbin.social/magazines. The Articles posted to the magazines you subscribe to show up in your feed. Microblogs are just aggregate content from the Fediverse. The moderation tools are limited, but what exists can be found by clicking the Magazine Panel button.
All of Kbin is very much a work in progress. A lot of things work as expected. Some don't. Be patient and pay it forward by helping others figure this out when you can.
I'm not familiar with Kbin much but just had a look at your profile from a not-logged-in person's pov. In the right hand sidebar are some stats about you including one that just says "moderated" with a 3 next to it. The 3 is a clickable link that seems to take me to a list of your created magazines.
Not sure if there's a simpler way to get to it when you're actually logged into Kbin though.
Anyone know how to see an instances list on Kbin? On any Lemmy instance, you can find a link at the bottom of the page that shows you who they're federated with and who they've defederated from. I can't find one here on Kbin.social. I only see the mod log.
@DeadwingSoda Weird, if I open kbin.social in Safari, I have the back button, but if I share the site to my home screen, when I launch from the icon, there’s no bottom buttons. 🤔
Brand new here. Been kinda "poking around" the past couple weeks but it's looking more and more like a viable alternative to Reddit. Just wondering if there's a way to display only the magazines I'm subscribed to?
If you want to see the full list of which magazines your subscribed to, it's in your profile. If you're in the website you click/tap n your username and then choose profiles. Then you have to use the arrows to see more options at the top. If you keep hitting the arrow you'll eventually get to "subscribed." I think that's what you're looking for.
How do I do "front pages" in kbin?
Where do I go to only see posts from magazines I'm subscribed to?
Where do I go to only see microblog posts from users that I follow?
How do I hide (blacklist) certain magazines from showing up on All?
I love to browse All to find new popular magazines every day. However, I can't speak German and a significant portion of my All page is in German.
Is there any way to keep browsing All but filter out specific magazines of my choosing? Or even better, is there a language selection I can set somewhere?
If you go to the magazine’s sidebar there’s a block button. On kbin and the lemmy web browser it’s by the subscribe button on the sidebar, on Memmy you have to hit the 3 dots on the top right of the magazine’s feed page. On Mlem…. I haven’t figured it out yet.
