KyuubiNoKitsune, in I just wanted to leave this here

Why does it say 2021 on the footer?

parrot-party,
@parrot-party@kbin.social avatar

Because it's not new. Now how far along is it? IDK. Realistically a large feature like this would probably take a couple years development and a company should be thinking multiple years down the road. It's probable that they were planning a big switch up to reputation and rewards for years.

Spez freaking out and cancelling all 3PAs does feel like a spur of the moment decision though.

squidzorz, in I just wanted to leave this here

But it’s not limited to Reddit either. Because your Points are on the blockchain, you can take your reputation anywhere you want on the Internet. Embed them in your own site or app!

Lol

@hiyaaaaa23 Now its your turn, Elon. Can you integrate NFTs and Crypto Currency into Twitter? The battle continues...

curiosityLynx,

If you actually wanted to tag the person, you need to include the instance they're on. In your case I'd have to write @thingsiplay@kbin.social

thingsiplay, (edited )
@thingsiplay@kbin.social avatar

@curiosityLynx The name is written out fully automatically when I click "Add comment"; kbin, the instance where I am, will put full identifier automatically. But on posting it only shows the "id name" without "instance part", but links to the account. Like in this situation with your name. My guess is, the person is still tagged correctly and only the HTML link name is shown in the browser.

I just wish it would link to the actual post or reply directly, instead the person. With the ability to preview on mouse hover (just like how it works on person accounts, at least for me on the desktop browser). This would make discussions more clear.

Ferk,
@Ferk@kbin.social avatar

Yes, I think it's an issue from kglitch.social, when seeing your comment (or other mentions) from there it does not show it as a link:

https://kglitch.social/m/RedditMigration@kbin.social/t/11190/I-just-wanted-to-leave-this-here#entry-comment-78785

ReiWasHere,
@ReiWasHere@kbin.social avatar

@Ferk

it might be the /kbin core, not your site you're on.

if you mention someone at your instance here i also prob would see a "full url" (as long it's not the same instance we are on, yes even if it's kbin based)

linking magazines is even more broken.

if i link a kbin social magazine, its not even gonna show, if i do mention a magazine on another instance here on kbin.social it does shorten and link to it, while the ppl over there just see the "full url" of my mention vice versa :,D

thingsiplay,
@thingsiplay@kbin.social avatar

@Ferk Interesting. I have checked the link from you, to see it from their perspective. And sure enough that won't show me a link too, BUT... The guy from kglitch.social has a link. What I think happening is following: Because I respond to the guy in the same instance kbin.social, it won't put the entire name. I know this from Mastodon, where if we are in the same instance, I don't need to put the instance id to tag someone. And because the guy from kglitch is not in the same instance, it will automatically create a full id reference, which every instance render as a link.

Hopefully I could explain what I think is happening. Maybe it is not an issue with kglitch itself, but how Kbin works.

curiosityLynx,

That actually makes sense.

Chozo, in I just wanted to leave this here

It looks like they're wanting to do a full rebrand as more of an actual social network, I think. Monetizing every single aspect of the platform sounds like a terrible way to go about it.

Noxvento,
@Noxvento@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds like spez.

JonEFive,

They don't care about the users who are making a fuss. In fact, they want those users to leave. They want the complacent social media users who can be easily monitized.

EatALime, in I just wanted to leave this here
@EatALime@kbin.social avatar

The copyright on that page is 2021, did they keep working on that after all the criticism from the NFT avatars?

I looked it up and this wait list came out in December 2021 it seems: https://cointelegraph.com/news/reddit-launches-waitlist-for-site-wide-expansion-of-community-points

Thorned_Rose,
@Thorned_Rose@kbin.social avatar

I was confused with the section showing awards when an email just went out saying Reddit are ditching awards. But if this is indeed from two years ago, that would make sense.

hiyaaaaa23,

Yes but it’s still up and “coming soon”

Bozicus,

Yeah, I am not sure if this is actually news. I got the impression from what Android Authority dug up that this new thing was going to be regular USD. It looks like they’re going to be asking for bank account information and tax forms for anyone who wants to become eligible for payouts, and I don’t know if they would be doing that for crypto…?

NotSpez, in I just wanted to leave this here

Yikes. Every day I’m happier I left. Yeah, stuff changes all the time. But when it gets this shitty it’s definitely time to leave

@1chemistdown@kbin.social avatar

I did, it shortened it when I hit add comment. If you press on my @ it should go to mastodon. At least from my end it does.

curiosityLynx,

On my end it's just plain text. Maybe a kglitch/kbin difference?

ReiWasHere, (edited )
@ReiWasHere@kbin.social avatar

@curiosityLynx

seems like everything that isn't "kbin.social" shows a url instead of the shortened mention.

if you mention a magazine that is on kbin.social, it doesn't even work/show, if you mention a fedia or kglitch magazine at "kbin.social" it shows a short mention on my side but a full url on your side.. it is broken :,D

left kbin, right fedia, another kbin based instance - so if i post a kbin magazine on kbin it doesnt gonna show, while fedia magazines etc do show, but as a full url vice versa :) really chaotic

They built that blockchain back when NFTs of gifs seemed like a good idea and, by god, they’re going to find a use for it.

They keep trying to make crypto happen on reddit.

DougHolland, in Reddit Copy Project?

Wisely, in Teddit shutting down due to reddit API limitations

Really annoyed by Reddit. First they take away Apollo. Then I started using Teddit last week. Now that’s gone too. I am not visiting their website or downloading their app.

Is there an archived website that I can redirect Reddit links to like you could do with Teddit? Then no api is needed.

Not a surprise Redditors hate losing coins.

Buelldozer, in Reddit is ending Reddit Gold and users are furious
@Buelldozer@lemmy.world avatar

Ad Revenue. Someone paying for Reddit Premium gets an ad free experience which is fine but someone who gets gifted Gold also gets an ad free experience. They need as many people as possible to see ads so free loaders have to go…which means so do the coins.

I fully expect that within a year Reddit will start doing what many streaming services are where the lowest tier is free but ad supported, then there’s a paid “limited ad” tier, followed by an even more expensive “No Ads” tier. The current Reddit Premium program will transition to that mid-tier category and they’ll add “Reddit Ultimate” or some BS as the new Ad Free option. It’ll probably cost $10 a month too.
