The awards I had given out were from back when free awards existed. I have never given Reddit a single cent and I have never visited Reddit without Adblock enabled.

DougHolland, in Reddit seems to be speedrunning 'self-destruct and devalue IPO'. What would be Reddit's next worst steps?

Time to kill OldReddit. Let's get everyone onto the gloriously redesigned Reddit.

collegefurtrader,

Not only that but release a new new reddit so you can piss off all the users that got used to old new reddit

aluminiumsandworm,

newnewreddit: 10 adds per post, every subreddit is blended together, and the comments from random other posts are added to every post. also the orangered vs periwinkle april fools weapons get added and cost money

RheingoldRiver,

hahaha this is probably the best one here

DougHolland,

Brilliant. Send Spez your résumé!

New new reddit: Actual posts are limited to one per page. All other posts are bots or adverts. The real post moves away from the mouse pointer as you approach it. Gotta catch that post! Sometimes the bots/adverts posts will jump in front of the bullet (mouse click) to save the actual post (sometimes = most of the time).

To stop scrappers, offer the same pricing as API to anyone using the web version of reddit. (New or old doesn't matter.) Ordinary users have to pay, per thousand comments, to see reddit.

Actually, do the same thing with the official app (since folks could otherwise use it for free and take screenshots or something). But leave the ads in too.

amzd, in Apollo was always reddit

Apollo showing up is due to them using Reddit in their AppStore title which is indexed in Spotlight search

abff08f4813c, in Any good scripts that will mass edit your reddit comments?

As others have said, PDS is a good choice as it avoids a need to use the API. (It does depend on old dot reddit dot com however, but that's not going away tomorrow.)

Do keep this in mind however, https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/47320/PSA-If-you-have-more-than-1000-posts-more-than

In short you need to request and get the GDPR/CCPA archive from reddit to make sure you wipe everything. (Some folks can live with just wiping out their top posts and comments however, for which PDS is perfectly fine.)

The downside is that afaik there's no way to feed that archive to PDS. You'll need to use an API using script like shreddit to edit everything.

You can see what I did: https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/65260/PSA-Here-s-exactly-what-to-do-if-you-hit-the

Instead of reddit use Kbin/Lemmy

Instead of twitter use Mastodon

Instead of YouTube use Peertube/Odysee

By the way, we should stop using imgur for pictures

neverfindausername,

Photobucket, here we come!

neverfindausername,

Oh holy shit, nevermind. I actually looked them up after that joke and no thanks!

knatsch,

What should we use for pictures?

Here are some alternative:

At the moment I'm using mastodon, it works.

trynn, in what are the best Lemmy subs across the fediverse?
@trynn@kbin.social avatar

I don't know anything about the mobile apps for the fediverse, but you can definitely search for communities from the Lemmy web UI (same goes if you're on kbin). If you go to the Communities tab there should be a search field in the upper-right.

abff08f4813c, in It's interesting how much hate you can get for requesting someone to post at Lemmy too...

Reddit admins using that "feature" to post under other usernames perhaps? I dunno if there's a way to check but I wouldn't be surprised if these folks were not actually subbed to the sub that they seem to care so much about.

Power delete suite should help you

skillissuer, in Any good scripts that will mass edit your reddit comments?

power delete suite would fit your bill, but i'm not sure if it will work tomorrow

FinnFooted,

It should, it's just a script that goes though your comments after you've logged in and gone to your own profile. Shouldn't require API.

Edit: Psyche, it does use the API. But, it doesn't need to so hopefully they update it.

Cut 50% of paid staff to save costs. Then the subreddits have free reign to post NSFW or whatnot without consequences.

Another great way to save staffing costs: give powermods access to the admin tools as well. Free admin labor!

Bumblebb, in Apollo was always reddit

I have been a daily reddit user since 2008. I had never seen a single Apollo ad or any discussion of Apollo.

Your search results are biased towards what you have browsed on Google.

Also you shouldn't be seeing ads with proper internet hygiene. Ublock origin, no script, vpn if you can. Res will strip out every reddit ad. And I'd highly recommend duck duck go or something more private than Google these days
