Dirk, in where do you guys register and manage www domains?
@Dirk@lemmy.ml avatar

I have one (including hosting) at a local German provider and one (dynamic DNS based forwarding to my homelab) at another German provider.

Both are in the market for 20+ years and neither of them had any controversies or major issues.

I’ve been on namecheap for a long time. They have a sale going on now. But they are really good, hardly ever a problem and if there is, their customer service is stellar.

lemmynsfwrny, in What would you do if you were a disembodied consciousness (like a ghost)?

Spend the first hours exploring my limits… how high can I float, how fast, walk through walls etc. Then go places I shouldn’t be… listen in on stuff. With all the UFO/alien stuff lately I’d go to Area51 and snoop around.

snooggums, in What does it mean that I am upset with the old lady who throws away the blue jewel at the end of titanic?
@snooggums@kbin.social avatar

You only care about material things and not about how this lady loved a poor person she banged on a vacation 80 years ago more than the family she had for decades after.

CorruptBuddha, in What did "that one" person do to you which made you cut them out of your life?

My dad broke up with his girlfriend, and was telling me this plan about fucking with her disability benefits, because she had gone for plastic surgery or some shit. He found this out from stalking her call logs.

I remember just pacing back and forward in my apartment trying to reason with him on the phone. “Dad, you can’t do this kind of stuff…”

I talked him down, told him I loved him, and will always love him.

I don’t know if it was the next day, but the next time we spoke on the phone he went right back into the same mindset. I couldn’t handle it. Sometime after the call I sent a pretty harsh message that I didn’t want to be involved with him. Haven’t spoken to him since.

Doll_Tow_Jet-ski, in What did "that one" person do to you which made you cut them out of your life?

Good friend for 5 years or so. He turned into an alt-right fanatic and kept trying to make me upset by spouting "ideas" he knew not only I didn't agree with, by would actually emotionally upset me (e.g. All street animals should be sacrificed without mercy, all immigrants should be returned to their original county, etc). He pulled this shit at my birthday also, ruinning the night not only for me but everyone present. That was the last time I saw him.

Another friend of over 10 years. He met a guy with a very strong personality and started copying everything the other guy did. Started dressing like him, having the same ideas, etc. I didn't play along, so everything about my suddenly became the object of criticism as well. Never talked to him again.

popemichael, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?
@popemichael@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

“Judge Dredd” (1995)

It’s fun, funny, entertaining, and while not well written, is well acted.

Honorable mention is “Demolition Man” (1993) for similar reasons. Though it’s in the 60s when it comes to a rating.

It’s like, sometimes I want to sit back turn my brain off for 2 hours, and just enjoy.

atomWood, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?

Tron: Legacy

This is one of my favourite movies of all time. The story, atmosphere, and music are absolutely amazing!

tram1, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?

I actually like:

  • Hackers (31%)
  • National Treasure (46%)
  • Bandits (64%)
JakJak98, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?

Disney’s Atlantis.

God I love that movie.

h34d, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?

Reign of Fire only has a 42% (Critics), 49% (Audience) rating on RT, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. The visuals and sets create a nice moody post-apocalyptic vibe, and the actors deliver decent performances imo.

AutoGenerate, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?

The Green hornet with Seth Rogen. I genuinely like it. It’s a good movie.

Xanvial, in Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?

I like both of National Treasure movies. With 46% and 36% ratings

mlc894, in What from reddit do you hope to never see on lemmy?

Too much politics. During the election on Reddit, everything was either ecstatic “Trump good!” or smug “Orange man bad!” posts with no actual content. My list of blocked subreddits ballooned, and that helped. Maybe I’ll have to do that here.

PeepinGoodArgs, in What's on your personal flash drive?

Pictures. Since phones got rid of the micro sd card slots, I now use a flash drive and save stuff to it.
